Ya know. . .

I never really liked those after school specials on televison.

Really, I would have to admit that I don't think I recall willingly sitting through one. I enjoyed reading way too much, and my father used to threaten to punish me by making me watch television.

sighsAnd lately I feel as if my life is becoming an homage to those old " ( Read more... )

no it's not because you're weak, you care for him and there's nothing wrong with that.

it's been pure hell this quarter. I've never written anything above 11 pages and now I have to deal with around 50 pages this quarter.

I have a long answer to this, which I won't bore you with. This is always hard. I know several people in the same situation.

The basic trouble with junkie ethics is that there's no reciprocity. One ends up feeling used and unloved, because at some level one is.

Both sad and sucky.

Thanks for responding.

I just needed to vent out loud and if I vent in front of the rest of the family it just becomes a long diatribe about him that makes all of us feel terrible.

So sorry to hear about your brother. It's so hard to be tough on someone you love. His girlfriend is obviously no help either. Sounds like it's time to change the locks. (Been there, done that, got the t-shirt, only it was my ex-husband). Sigh, hugs you and hopes someone out there can get through to baby brother - it took prison for my ex-husband. Cindy Lee

Damn. *hugs* I know I'm not really someone who knows you but I just had to respond to this. I feel for you hun, I really do. I've been in a similar situation myself but it was my cousin and not nearly as bad. I've known lots of people with similar problems too. It's just hard loving people sometimes. All the advice in the world won't make you feel any better cuz at the end of the day he's your brother no matter what. But fact of the matter is that even though we sometimes may wish to, we can't live other people's lives for them, we can't always protect them and we can't always fix them. It's just a shitty world sometimes. Thing is, as long as you keep catching him, your brother probably ain't gonna be growing up any time soon. -Why would he? He's got a sweet deal going for himself; drugs, food, a place to crash and constant forgiveness. But you know all this. Just harden your heart sweetie. Change the locks, give him the number to rehab and tell him that you'll be there for him to talk to when things get rough, but that number is all ( ... )
