We're Gonna Need a Bigger Shuttle...

So because of recent events and last year's plagiarism fiasco on ff.net, I've added a warning on both my ff.net site and Kim J's PADD.  I suggest that my f-list do something similar.

"The last thing I want to convey (and it's sad that it has to be spelled out here) is that it's wrong to steal any of my stories.  That includes copying and pasting ( Read more... )

If there's one thing I've learned in the last week, it's not to assume it won't happen, and to be proactive in jumping if it does.

I now have google searches on various sentences in my web-published erotica (sentences that don't include names, to get around those who might steal and change the names). However, that's just my original stuff -- the thought of doing it for my fanfic is giving me hives.

Good on you for the warning. And yeah.... maybe it's time to get off ff.net.

*hugs*

I stayed with ff.net for awhile as a newb and because its only useful function is being able to alert people outside of VAMB when a new story was up. It's nice to read some of the reviews, but I also get emails that are sometimes very detailed - as though people really took the time to analyze the stuff, which I treasure, too. But overall, there's not much to miss if I leave. People who've been reading probably know where Azza's site is now. Besides, most of the time, my stuff is too racy for the place, and I only include a snippet and a link to where the rest of it is.

I'm a misanthrope in general, so I really shouldn't be surprised that this stuff happens. The internet takes all kinds. You ever wonder if your stuff gets nicked for some 10th grade writing class? Can you imagine?? Yeah, it takes all kinds in the entire frickin' world. But on the good side, I've seen people find stuff and warn the author. So there's a watchdog faction out there.
