Kim sees Sam's name on the cellphone and stares at it for a moment before answering. "Sam, it's Kim. What are you doing? Aren't you on your honeymoon?"

Kim actually tries not to laugh. "You called me all the way from Hawaii to tell me that? Oh Sam, it's all right. I mean... I don't think Alex really told him anything, like no details. He didn't know what he was asking of me and as far as I'm concerned he still has no concept of what sex really is. So please, don't worry about anything. Alex didn't mean any harm, I'm sure."

He's Only Six

It feels weird to ring the doorbell of his own house, but he doesn't live in the house. Kim and Leo do. And he respects their privacy, though he is showing up unannounced at the door now.

He just feels like stopping by. Checking in. Seeing them. Maybe taking them out to dinner, maybe a movie afterward. Or the park. He promised Leo he would take him to the park when he got his cast off, but his schedule had been so crazy he hadn't had time to do it yet.

Now would be a good time. He's been wanting to talk to Leo for a while, to make sure the boy is okay with him dating his mother. He really wanted Leo's approval before they went any farther.

Kim has always taught Leo never to open the door to strangers, but when he looks out of a window and sees Dr. Carter there, he knows it will be okay.

"Hullo Dr. Carter," he says as he opens the door, a huge grin on his face. "Mama can't talk right now, she's on the phone with Aunt Jordan."

"You know what? You're the one I want to talk to anyway. Do you think your mama would mind if I come in?" Carter asks. He looks past Leo to see if he can see Kim, but she's not in sight of the door.

"No, she wouldn't mind. She loves you. And..." He leans closer and whispers, a serious look on his face. "And you love her too and you have sex with her. It means you're intermint and really really really close."

Yeah. But, fortunately I think it's working out. Since he's not old enough I don't think the concept of sex is going to interest him long. But God help me when it does.
