The American Film Institute (AFI) has produced its list of "Top 100 Fill in the Blank" movie related things. I just checked out their Top 100 Quotes from Movies and have to say that it's brilliant and surprisingly effecting. It's not that the quotes are particularly witty (though some are) or pithy (again, some are) but each sums up its movie in ( Read more... )

I knew about Mr. Buckler. My Aunt Sandy works out at the Huntington YMCA. When I was home over the 4th, she just randomly started telling a story about a "good looking super fit" man who taught her spinning class. She said he thought he had gall stones because of stomach pain but it turned out, his entire abdomen (pancreas, stomach, intestines, liver, etc) was riddled with cancer. It was so weird - she told the story because it was so shocking to her that this Y instructor was completely healthy one day and dying of cancer the next. She had no idea my mom and I knew him.

After he was diagnosed, he was immediately transfered to Cleveland Clinic which ultimately released him to hospice care. I think the time from his cancer diagnosis to his death was only about 2 weeks! It was incredibly sad.
