There was some kerfluffle today about whether marching in the post-election Anti Prop 8 protests was a requirement for being a "good" gay or for showing "enough" support, especially if you are gay. Well said. One of the things I remembered in the time after gay marriage passed in Mass was that the folk who disagreed and actually knew gay people were much more likely to take a "well I don't agree, but so what" approach. (And really, I think the biggest thing that helped marriage stick in Mass was that there wasn't a window to vote it out six months later - over time people were able to open their minds. Good people living their lives does that, not activism. (not that I am knocking activism, but there is no substitute for familiarity.)
