After a seemingly endless taxi around the runways of SFO we were finally allowed off the plane. Kensaro had thankfully dried up (from a tea spill, see previous post), which was a plus since neither of us relished the idea of US customs, especially not when one of us looked like he had an incontinence problem ( Read more... )

I'm still trying to move to Toronto, myself. I'll probably be out for a bit of a visit / jobhunt some time in late summer tho.

Weirdly enough, nope - though I've seen them at a few major US airports over the last few years. SFO seemed to be generally chilled compared to those occasions.

I've never seen lines that short at immigration, nor was there any fingerprinting or picture taking going on apparently for people with a passport from visa-waiver countries.

It all seemed so strangely civilised.. even sitting outside the airport I somehow expected to be leapt upon by customs officials brandishing the soggy remains of an illegal alien citrus fruit.

I think it's being crammed into a human veal crate which does it to me - after a few hours I'm ready to go postal. This isn't a good trait for someone who does so much travelling..
