Is this political?

I know, I said no more political posts but I have bright young people on my flist who post stuff in their journals that just need to be seen, so I'm passing this along.

Is this the debate that was on Democracy Now last night? I had just happened to catch it and I was jumping about the kitchen, screeching with joy. Take that--Steinem! Melissa Harris-Lacewell had her so messed up she finally retreated into "why can't we all just get along" territory.

You know, in terms of second-wave feminism I sort of get that they were operating in ignorance, shutting out women of color and lesbians while spouting a rhetoric of "join us and it'll all be ok." What I do not get is why those same women are still spouting the same crap. Challenge yourselves! Keep up with the critiques and the theories, girls!

(And yes, I did call them girls. Nyah.)

If you want to make political posts, I hope you will -- I for one am always interested in what you have to say. I read the transcript, and Dr. Harris-Lacewell left Ms. Steinem looking quite foolish.

So many things deeply bother me about Hillary, and claiming "executive experience" from being *first lady* is right up there.

Yeah, that's a total *headdesk*.

It's Bill angling to get his old job back. I noticed he can't seem to keep his mouth shut.

I found Steinem nearly unreadable, 'you know?'

In my limited and humble experience, academic feminists are invariably patriarchal in nature.
