Fannish Year In Review 2012
1. Your main fandom of the year: A Song of Ice and Fire
2. Your favorite film this year: This is hard, I don't watch that many movies. Hmm, I did find Cabin in the Woods consistently entertaining throughout its screen time.
3. Your favorite book this year: The Book of Men, Poems by Dorianne Laux. I love my time in

Maybe its a failing but I find this medium less engaging imaginatively, though there's been some very good tv shows. I guess that feeling of falling in love with a fictional world to the point of obsession - that process has to be built with words for me rather than visuals. Some of my favorite books have been butchered through filmaking.
I seriously have to check out Royal Affair from your retrospective, it looks like it just my cup of tea. Have you seen Firelight btw? Its with Stephan Dillane and Sophie Marceau as Victorian era lovers. Its very good imho.
I absolutely adored your description of woman’s lifecycles in the excerpt you highlighted! Thank you! I don't think I'll be writing an crone!Sansa smutfic but I like to think of her as older woman at times. Perhaps like Christine de Pizan - an intellectual, spiritual lady. And I'd like to allow Sansa to be not hot, perhaps a matronly and heavy woman like Gemma Lannister. I don't know, I think the burden of being beautiful your entire life would be so tiresome. ( ... )

I am waiting with bated breath the reboot of the 'Running/Hunting'. It is actually quite amazing how little erotic fan-art there is about SanSan, considering how popular pairing it is. So a great initiative!
Hopefully your laundry forgives you...

tee hee, "internet book club"
thank you for the mention!!! honestly though I think I've caught it any time when I've made horrible typos in my fics, I've definitely done read throughs and caught them and been like WOAHHHH OOPS. it's only human to do silly things like that sometimes :)
I too miss the people who have apparently disappeared from fandom, especially from SanSan fandom :( I've been trying my best not to disappear myself...I wouldn't do it because I'm not a fan any more, I just have so much stuff that I need to focus on right now that something (or rather, thingS) has to take a backseat.

Doing this retrospective highlights how transitory fandom is. Not that I believe everyone who has disappeared has abandoned Sansan, just that their lives are different or perhaps fandom doesn't offer the same jollies it once did. Can't say I'll be Sansan 4 lyf.
I've been trying my best not to disappear myself...
Gives us time to miss you more! Best of luck in all your endeavors. I hope you post on your LJ or something about the convention.

Yeah I'll definitely post about the convention :) we're still in the planning stages now so it's mostly just a lot of work, much of which is repetitive. sigh

I'm glad you liked the Red and the White. The Sansan romance was my favorite part too (granted, I'm biased). It was great and I read it in a day too. I think because the outsider perspective makes you pity them. And Sansa is so much more human (and thus more real to me) because Arya sees her faults, her vanity, her lack of loyalty to Arya as they were growing up. Like you said, the approach was really moving, their love was so poignant!
but i'll try and do one over the weekend
I hope you do. I'd love to see your photos too if you're inclined to show them.
just wish my teacher was as cute as Jaquen
