Running/Hunting Reboot update

Feb 25, 2013 02:00

onborrowedwings asked about my project, so I thought I would post an update. Sorry I haven't been around much, a couple of things have happened in my real life, so livejournal and fandom have taken a (relative) backseat. My husband got laid off recently which digs into my insecurities about financial instability, so a little mopey there. And work has been more ( Read more... )

Oh wow this is such a gorgeous cover! I really love the detail and the fairytale feel of the imagery here. I can't remember the name of this style but I just love this form of art beautiful job!

Am curious about the skeleton in the left corner as well as the imagery of the bugs (crickets?) and the fae in her hair. What do they represent?

Beautiful b/W imagery too I love how yo'uve captured Sansa's innocence you really do give her such an ethereal feel like she is the symbolic Maiden to Sandor's Stranger.

Unrelated, I hope things settle for you and your hubby soon. That he's able to find a stable and well paying position soon! Hope things on your job front eases up too so your not pulling out your hair! *hugs*

Am curious about the skeleton in the left corner
Its a hare skeleton to recall the title. A fluffy bunny would have been too cute, the skeleton adds a dimension of menace which supports the story's mood. The phrase "Running with the Hare and Hunting with the Hounds" means supporting both sides of a dispute, one of the themes of the smutfic is the duality of Sandor (i.e., the "Hare") and the Hound.

imagery of the bugs (crickets?)
The bugs are cicadas. In Greek mythology, cicadas were humans who loved to sing so much that the sang until they died from lack of food and drink. They gave up their humanity to dwell in pleasure and the gods turned them into cicadas (who are famous for their singing and their brief lives). Cicada lore is woven into this story as an explanation of the events as well as a symbol between gratification and duty.

the fae in her hairThese are Sansas, manifestations of her. The story is a smutfic about a dream, these are the dream Sansas, cavorting in intoxicated ecstasy (recalling the cicadas ( ... )

Oh wow that is really neat! I love how much thought you put into this creation, like every detail was put into careful consideration. It just sounds incredibly epic like a legend with an erotic touch. Very unique! Can't wait to see more of your artwork you are so incredibly talented!

Your words are too good!

Did you get the bookmark btw? Onborrowedwings already got hers and she's in India.

I hope your husband gets a new job soon and that you're all okay.
The cover is beautiful, and as others have said, very Mucha.
For some reason I really love the skeleton dog/rat/wolf thing, it reminds me of THE DEATH OF RATS in Discworld (and the cartoon I watched as a child).

I've gotten two of your postcards! Are you still sending them currently or are these just delayed getting to these distant yonder shores?

Thanks for the sympathy, we're ok, my luck abides.

Thanks for your comment, I'm really devoting all my energies to Running/Hunting, my favorite fanfiction that I've written (granted there's only 3 :P )

"Its a hare!! "
That makes sense actually...

I found a large stash of postcards at Yass, some with international postage stamps on them already (for my old Pakistani penfriends before they got married).

I have a lot of postcards and I love sending them (I actually collect postcards, but very few people send them to me, so I just send a lot).
So I figured I would send you a postcard whenever I remembered to do so.

That's very kind of you. I'd like to send postcards, but I can't find any. I don't live near any touristy places. I am on the hunt for them.

Let me know if/when you get the "Made in Winterfell" bookmark. I did not send it fedex, just standard US mail. I've had bad experiences with fedex and UPS and just prefer to give my money to the government even if they do mislay the packages on occasion.

Hope all is well with you. I very much enjoyed your original fiction.

Heya, I just found your blog because the Lady Sansa FB Fanpage posted this pic :)
I love the illustration and would immediately buy a tshirt with it! Maybe you should upload it to OtherTees or Teefury or Quertee or one of these sites :)

Hello! I'm sorry its taken me so long to reply to you. I'm not on LJ much these days. I didn't realize this was profile on a Lady Sansa FB page. That's exciting to hear! Would you mind sending me the link?

This is just a not-for-profit fanwork. I do intend to publish it (for free) as an electronic magazine. Probably something the end of this year. I do blog about the process on my tumblr should you be interested: kimberlite8.tumblr.com/tagged/running-hunting-reboot

Thanks for your enthusiasm!
