Running/Hunting illustrations inspired by Gustav Klimt

Jul 14, 2013 20:28

There was a Gustav Klimt show at the Los Angeles Getty last year that focused on his sketches exclusively. I was much inspired by it when I conceptualized the following illustrations for Running/Hunting.

Here's Sansa looking at the viewer. Its a companion piece to an illustration of the Hound (not shown). This was illustrated by Comediante.

I love the picture of the maiden, mother and crone in a pool. The colouring is just beautiful.

I just love the Tully symbolism and the imagery of Sansa growing from a child to an elder woman. I love how they've captured both her innocence and her growing wisdom as she matures into the Crone. Even more lovely is how ethereal she looks, even as the Crone she is hauntingly beautiful.

I wanted to ask if you (or the artist) have considered having this photo made into prints? I'd really love to purchase a copy and have it framed for my room its just lovely.

Interesting to note how even the first image bears a water aura to it. The frills of her gown as white caps to the folds and 'waves' of the linens they are lying on...

Hi Kyla,

Thank you for your thoughtful commentary! I didn't connect the first illustration's watery-ness to the second. Mind blown! Klimt line drawings were quite lovely in their fluidity.

I love old Sansa too, that's the best. I love the idea of Sansa and Sandor growing old and love at different stages in life.

I don't think I'm making anything into prints, nor will any of the artists. Its just a fanfic and a bit of a lark to all involved, though I'm passionately devoted making it professional looking. If you would like a print, I can send you any of the files for you to print yourself. I'll send you this one right now. They are all 300 dpi however, so the largest copy will be no more than 11x17 inches.

Oh really? I actually thought it was intentional and just loved the elemental connection ^^ Have to say I really love your artistic influences I admit I'm pretty ignorant of professional art but am really enjoying discovering these (for me anyways) new artists.

I'm definitely with you on that I'm such a sucker for the concept of these two growing old together, having that happy ending they more than thoroughly deserve.

Aww that's too bad, there are some great pieces here! I'd hardly call this a lark its far too beautiful for that, and most certainly professional too!

Ooh yes please! Thank you so much in advance =D Hey I'm not complaining that would be a perfect size actually! thanks again!
