Marching Song, Part 2/?

I wrote this for dealbreaker19 as a part of the SansaxSandor letter exchange. It blossomed from what was suppose to be one letter into a full blown
epistolary romance. This is the second letter of several letters.

Title: Marching Song, Part 2

Summary: Sandor's war letters to Sansa while he is on campaign. An epistolary smutfic.  "It feels so sweet to ( Read more... )

Wheeeeeeee I'm the first one for once!

I am looking forward to the dirty bits ;) That said, I'm enjoying the sweetness of the exchanges at the moment - Sansa's uncertainty in what I'm assuming is a newly acknowledged love (or is it an old one, do we get a back story on how they've gotten to this point??), Sandor setting aside whatever worries he must have himself in order to reassure her. I do love reading him with the tone of confidence he now has, surely the result of a little bird's love?

Oh they're not lovers! Inhabiting that gray space right now. Sandor's confidence is from being safe and not having to do battle with his demons anymore. The dog Jonquil is suppose to be a parallel for the Hound himself ;) I'll add some bits to explain why he's so free with his emotions.

I'm glad you're not shying away from how horrible warfare is, the lice race is gross but I like the blitz spirit it shows!
I'm intrigued about the miniature in the jam jar. A Chekov's gun?

Well that's the fun part of reading this fic, you'll never know what I'll throw at you - louse races, ptsd dogs, hahaha. I remember reading Jaime's AFFC chapter and how much levity some of the camp scenes had. I'd imagine Sandor's like him in that respect - war is something's he familiar with, he knows its horrible but at the same time can find the humor in it. In some ways, I imagine war is Sandor's natural element, so I try not to make him moan on and on too much. Blitz spirit is my favorite new phase.

The miniature in the jam jar...i had to have some item that was the catalyst for more honest talk about what is the nature of their relationship.

I started to scratch myself.
hehe, patting myself on the back for a job well done.

I'm glad you enjoyed Jonquil, the PTSD dog. I'll try to work her in later. Sandor giving Sansa a dog is such a popular trope that I wanted to explore it but present the dog as a parallel for Sandor rather than just a fluffy lovable dog.

Thanks for reading and commenting!

It’s nice that you’re giving all those poor Ramsay victims a chance to avenge themselves. I had forgotten about old Nan… :( what a horrible way to live your old days. I hope she survives in canon too and dies somewhere friendlier. I also hope we’ll get to hear about the Bolton being defeated in your story.

That thing about Sandor’s nits was simply disgusting! Wow, that man sure knows how to court a young lady. :S

I find it surprising to see how near Sansa and Sandor seem to be while not being lovers. I wonder how this all took place, how they became so close. Perhaps you’ll give us a few clues as the story goes by. I also wonder how you’ll manage to bring this very innocent correspondence into something much smuttier.

I’m waiting impatiently.

its hard for me to read certain plot lines because I wonder why isn't Sansa reacting to this? Like in a future fic where she's QitN, I would think why hasn't she spared some thought to her dead brothers. Or in a Sansa/Jaime fic, I would think she would be horrified by the crippling of Bran. You know how I laser in on canon compliance stuff, its hard to just let stuff go. I try not to think too hard on what about the Others in this fic or else I wouldn't get anywhere.

He thought Sansa would find it romantic that he bathed so scrupulously for her name day even though he was 1000s of leagues a way.

I did go overboard with the lice but I like a little grossness in my stories to ground the reader. In my smut stories there's always body fluids so in a war story there is lice and starvation and ptsd dogs.

I also wonder how you’ll manage to bring this very innocent correspondence into something much ( ... )
