Yay for updates! I'm enjoying how the many aspects of that first phase of being in love are laid bare here. The incredible pain when you don't hear from them (Dating before phones must have been torture!), the doubt about if they still like you and the fear.
His comment about his fears about her dying make me think he has now passed through the initial lovey dovey phase into a more stable one where you know they won't leave you.....by choice!
Beautiful and wonderful as ever. Also very thought provoking.
I don't what it is about Sandor's neediness and anxiety that turn me on! I just find it hot making him insecure. But I think its a natural consequence of his situation. I only teased it out 15 days. But in real life, it must have been excruciating, especially in war time where not hearing from your man could mean he's dead and not hearing from your woman could mean she jilted you.
Haha yes, Sansa dying I imagine is his worst fear, especially here when they haven't really been a couple except on paper. He's very anxious to have sex with her finally, lol.
" Also very thought provoking" thank you! I wish the Rickon letter wasn't as clunky as it was but I felt I needed to add some serious thoughts on what Sandor thinks about war. And how he sees Sansa beyond just as the girl he loves/lusts after.
Yeah it is hot. I think it's that whole "he needs me" thing. I didn't think the Rickon oart was clunky. That's as the part that I found thought provoking, that often we want our loved ones to do the opposite of us. The genuine affection that he has for Rickon is very sweet. As you know I have strong Rickon feels and I live it when he gets a name check.
I imagine that sex after such a long separation would actually be fraught with disaster born of anxiety and haste 😄

Yes, I do see Sandor as struggling with being verbally abusive his entire life. And part of Rickon's rudeness to Sansa is how often he sees Sandor being rude to her.
I like Rickon too. It makes me grit my teeth when Sansa stans think he's going to be a cannibal king or somehow wild and savage as a ruler, hence should be swept aside for Sansa. He's only a rowdy 3 year old in the books and certainly malleable.
It’s a sad thing for lovers to be separated and for one of them not to receive any news of the other for some time. I’ll second Westeroswolf on that: how did people ever manage not to turn crazy before telephone was invented? Sandor’s lassitude and him not knowing what to do with himself was really easy to read in this and his fear that Sansa might have already tired of him was touching. Poor brute. I can imagine the mix of relief and worry he must have felt at hearing about her sickness. While he now knows she couldn’t write back, the idea that someone you love has been sick and that you were not there to help is horrifying

I'm glad you found Sandor's anxiety believable. For some reason, I do find him worrying about Sansa's affection endearing. He's such a bottomless pit of need in all my stories

‘That would be funny if he told his squire, wait, let me take off my shirt, and wear these really tight chausses but let me keep my greaves on. And that's how he wants Sansa to remember him when he's dead and she's old and horny! LOLOLOL

I was so excited about a new chapter, and then in the way of women with small babies, I forgot that I did have one to read!
I finally got a chance to catch up today while bub was having his nap, and was thrilled at how marvellously long it is! Poor Sandor, so very vulnerable when he thinks he may have lost the only love he's known, and such difficulty in hiding it. I understand his insecurities, when you've never known love or loyalty it's difficult to believe in it, especially when so far away.
I loved his letter to Rickon and the bit about Rickon's little card - adorable and bloodthirsty!
And poor Lord Manderley, who is one of my favourite characters! I'm glad to hear he's so well respected and his passing so deeply mourned.
Here's hoping for speedy post to Sandor to keep him from losing his hope!
