Yes, I think Sandor would be vulnerable to self-doubt in regards to his leadership abilities. We like to see him as a BAMF but in his journeys throughout the Riverlands how often did he appear kind of lost with Arya in tow?
"The cuts in the trees" In canon when he says "rocks and rivers and trees, that's what your realm is made of" - it was wistfully expressed to me. As is the three that died in the autumn grass. There's something there I think, in his soul, about an appreciation for the simplicity of nature. He would have made a good northman!
I’m sort of excited at the thought that there’s only one chapter left! Not that I want the story to finish but I’m curious to see your work completed and to know exactly how you’ll end it. You did an excellent job on conveying the restlessness of the few pre-combat hours. It was palpable even in the room I was in and I was getting nervous too, lol! And with all those details about their preparation, it felt very rich
( ... )
BTW, your Sandor isn't ashamed of being a dog worked its way into this fic. Not only do I agree, but I think Sandor's mark of approval would be to see people as dogs. So here his squire is a preserving terrier and Manderly is the world's saddest mastiff. :P
