Data point: I've never seen any random objects either.

Sarah Waters is a literary writer who writes good erotic scenes, but her books are dark. How dark varies from book to book, but they're not fluffy.

Most pleasurable non-sexual physical sensation: I would vote for eating something delicious. But if you're thinking purely tactile, stroking a very young puppy or kitten.

Thanks for the Sarah Waters recc, I checked out your reviews of her work. Seems interesting, I love historical novels. Maybe I'll add it to my books to read pile.

Most pleasurable non-sexual physical sensation:

I was thinking of tactile sensations. The young puppy or kitten (or better, a rabbit!) is a wonderful sensation, I'm clenching my hands imagining running my fingers through the fur of all those adorable animals on cuteoverload.com.

But non-tactile - there is no more transcendent pleasure than eating something delicious. And there's so many opportunities to eat good food in Los Angeles. You have to drive everywhere, but this is a world-class food city.
Food's the first pleasure, the first thing babies learn to love, so I think its the greatest. Even though I write and read smut, when you're not in the mood - its terribly dull. As Robin Williams said in the Fisher King: "There's nothing more overrated than sex, and nothing more underrated than a good bowel movement" :P

A character from my memoir; a truly strange, not to mention deranged, person I knew when I was a kid.
