There used to be a contest on CBC Radio called "Wanted Words" that filled in the same thing. They'd come up with a percieved gap in the English language and ask people to fill it.

My three favourites were, in no particular order:

1. Rigor mattress (the sensation of waking up and not wanting to get out of bed)
2. Consecuvore (someone who eats one item of food completely off their plate before going on to the next, like me)
3. Aneurhythm (when a song gets stuck in your head and won't go away).

I actually still use "aneurhythm" in casual conversation.

holy crap! I'll be using aneurhythm from now on!

Have you ever 'played' song tag, then? it's where you sing/say the catchphrase of/hum the song that's stuck in your head to someone else, which gets it stuck in their head. You've just 'tagged' them! My husband and I do this with fair regularity, usually the tagger gets to point, and go "ha-ha, song tag!" Scarily enough, the song leaves your head that much quicker!

Yeah, I can see definite uses for "catechasm". And for "sarchasm", "mantonym" and "lastard"--particularly "lastard"! So could have applied that to my last roommate back when I was single... :P
