So, I got a little toe surgery. When my doctor first saw my toe, he really didn't think anything was wrong with it. Thought he could just soak it and it would be better. I almost agreed as it was feeling so much better today.
However, when he started poking around, a lot of puss started coming out a small hole in the top of my nail. He couldn't see what was going on because I have polish on my nails. He sent the nurse to get some remover...
We were both shocked to see taht 3/4th of the nail had puss underneath it once the polish was removed! Seeing all that he said he would have expected my toe to be really red and inflamed.
Anyway - he numbed the toe, which was the only really painful part. The needle didn't hurt, it was when the lidocaine went up the side of the toe! That burned!!! Thank goodness there were no other patients in the office - they would have heard my sad yelp!
He cut off about 1/8th of an inch of my nail, all the way down to the root. It's wrapped now and still a little numb. I have to keep it wrapped for 24 hours - then soak it twice a day. He gave me an antibiotic and steroid cream to put on it and some codeine for the pain.
No soccer for me for a little while. Pooey. But at least my toe is fixed, just need to wait for it to heal!
