that is the thing about Russian film - the comedies excepted. it is a feeling. it is not a plot; it is not a purpose. it is the transposition from your life and your eyeballs into, in this case, the 10 year olds' myopic view (albeit an entrancing view) of his father. It's like a memory -- try to remember something that aches in your soul from when you were younger. See how it feels displaced and against the grain of all of today's linear-ness? That's like this movie -- it's a slice of this boy's past -- full and sentient.
