Title: Temptations Chapter 6
Rating: Nc-17
Trigger warning: Rape, Death

He ran up the stairs; skipping every step he could to reach the fifth floor faster. The elevator would have taken too long with all the people waiting in line. He ran faster, not stopping to catch his breath until he was able to lean on the door frame of the room.
“Dongho.” Soohyun whispered as he walked in, panting hard and covered in a light sweat. He looked at the younger who was hunched over Changmins hand.
Soohyun received the phone call from Dongho only a few minutes ago, at four in the morning, Changmin had passed away.
He walked over after taking a deep breath and pulled the younger from the chair he was sitting in and held him close against his chest. He could already feel a spot forming from Donghos tears; he lead him out of the room when Changmins parents arrived.
           “He’s gone…It’s all my fault.”
“Don’t start that Dongho. You know that it’s not and never will be.”
Dongho just nodded and clung tighter to Soohyun. It came so suddenly, and he didn’t know if he was glad that he was there for it or not. Changmin had woken up for a few minutes, throat sore and voice weak. He smiled and told Dongho he loved him before his heart rate spiked and he went cold. It was scary for him, Dongho ran out of the room screaming for a nurse while Changmin’s heart monitor went to a slow and steady beep.
“Lets go get something to eat. His parents need time alone. Something small…please?” Soohyun took Donghos hand and started leading the way when the younger nodded.
They went down to the cafeteria of the hospital, this time taking the elevator. Soohyun never let go of the tight grip he had on Dongho’s hand; he was afraid that holding his hand was the only comfort he could offer Dongho. They had been through a lot at the hands of Changmin, but he was still Donghos best friend, and now he was gone.
Soohyun grabbed the corn bread muffins he knew Dongho loved and made two cups of coffee for them. He looked around to see if there was anything else he knew Dongho would be able to stomach, he reached for the crackers and lead the way to the cash register. Dongho pointed to a table in the far corner.
“Try and eat one, they’re your favorite.” He said softly while opening the wrapper and holding a piece of muffin out.
Dongho leaned forward and took a small bite of the piece, chewing slowly while he stared at the speckled pattern of the table. He felt numb inside. His best friend was gone and the first person he told was the ex-boyfriend who refused to find a way to love him again. He felt lost and hopeless, like he wasn’t enough for anyone to want to be around; his eyes started to tear up, he hadn’t noticed he started crying until Soohyuns fingers started brushing against his cheeks. He looked up, pathetically, and frowned even more because all he saw in Soohyuns eyes were pity. He wanted understanding; he wanted his friend, his boyfriend, not pity.
“I still love you.” He whispered, more to himself but he didn’t care if Soohyun heard or not.
“I know you do. But I can’t return the feelings anymore Dongho. I’m sorry…but this is how I feel.”
“ I know…but, if it’s the last thing I ever say to you…I love you hyung.” His hand was taken again and given a light squeeze. Nothing was going to be easy anymore, he was going to be even more alone than before, but there was nothing he could do about it either.

Four weeks had passed since the funeral. Dongho had spent hours searching through his locker for the friendship bracelet Changmin had given him when school started; he vowed to never take it off again. It was hard walking through the halls without Changmin. All the other students stared at him, he was the best friend of the kid who killed himself now and he hated the title. Changmin was so much more than that…His life was so much more important than that. It was thoughts like these that have been constantly running through his mind. He stopped and stared at the floor in front of the memorial the school and student council set up for Changmins remembrance. He felt himself become angry when he read the name Lee Sungmin and Cho Kyuhyun together on the poster board the senior class got to sign. “I’m deeply sorry” was all it said under their names. He couldn’t entirely blame them, but he still hated what they had done. He walked to home room and took his seat. Changmins desk was also signed by the entire class.
“Dongho, are you sure you don’t want to change your seat?” Kibum asked for the fifth time. He didn’t want to change his seat; he didn’t want things to change. He wanted Changmin to come through the door late like he always had with a bagel in his mouth and hot chocolate in his hand. He simply shook his head like always. Kibum decided to send everyone but Dongho to the library for silent reading.
“Talk to me, what’s going on inside that head of yours?”
           “I miss him.”
           “We all do Dongho.”
“I lost him and Soohyun hyung…I lost everyone. No one treats me the same anymore so it’s like they’re gone. Everyone keeps looking at me like I have Changmin’s ghost hanging around! I’m sick of it! I’m sick of everything changing!” His voice shook and wavered with emotions, his eyes filled up with tears as he slammed his hand on his desk.
“You should go home Dongho…Rest a bit.”
“I guess I should..I’ll text Kevin to come get me.”
“Alright… Tell me how he’s doing later please.” Dongho just nodded and went to the office after Kibum wrote him an excused pass.

Text to: Kevin
From: Dongho
Hyung, I was let out early because I’m apparently behaving distressfully…can you come get me?
Response:
Of course I can, give me about ten minutes! Kiseop is coming too, we miss you.
Response;
I’m sorry I haven’t been around lately…Just bummed… Talk to you more when you get here. Can we pick up ice cream?
Response:

Anything you want dear.Kevin shook his head and started packing up his books. He smiled down at Kiseop who had fallen asleep, again, on his books. Everyone’s been a bit stressed the past few weeks it seems.
“Kiseop, wake up…” He whispered softly while going around the table to gently nudge his shoulders.
Kiseop shook his head a little while sitting up. He stretched his arms up and Kevin frowned at the new bruise on his side, but he wasn’t going to say anything until they got into the car. Kiseop had been showing up with more bruises everyday; Kevin was getting even more worried. Kiseop took his hand when he stood up and started leading the way to the car.
Kevin waited until they had started driving to make any form of conversation.
“You have a new one.”
“I know. I don’t have any reason to stop anymore. It’s good money.”
“Kiseop.”
“Please don’t start this again Kevin…I’m tired and depressed. I don’t want to miss him. I don’t want things to be like this either but he made his choice and I made mine. Family is more important and it’s all I can do…”
Kevin just sighed softly and let the conversation die. He knew Kiseop didn’t enjoy the work he was doing but it did pay well. Kiseop hadn’t been the same since Eli broke up with him; He became more reserved, more aggravated and irritable. He’d started staying with Kevin and Alexander, he couldn’t find a place to live on his own, but then again he didn’t want to live alone. He had grown so used to having people in the house, noises, interactions, he hated being alone now.
The car came to a stop in front of the building. Kevin left the car running and got out to go get Dongho from the office. He walked up the marble steps and into the double doors, praying that he wouldn’t see Kibum. His prayer went unanswered.
Kibum was standing with his arms around a Dongho; he seemed to be crying again. Kevin walked up and stopped a bit in front of them, keeping his head down.
“Kevin.”
“Dongho, let’s go.”
“Kevin talk to me please. At least say hello.”
Kevin looked up and mustered up the biggest grin he could, “Hello” he said, trying to hold back any emotions.
Dongho picked his bag up from the floor and stepped behind Kevin, he knew this wasn’t going to end that quickly.
“Come over tonight. We need to talk. Please.”
“Talk about what? You broke up with me. You’re done remember? That’s what you said.”
“It was rash. Please come over. I miss you.” He said it with such sadness in his voice that Kevin just turned around and started walking back to the car. He didn’t want to deal with this right now, Dongho needed him.
“Can we go back to your place hyung? I don’t feel like dealing with my parents’ sympathy right now…”
“I said anything you want right? We’ll pick up some ice cream too and go back to the apartment.”
Dongho climbed in the back seat, smiling slightly since Kiseop was back there too. He pushed his bag onto the floor and laid on his back with his head on Kiseops thighs.
They rode in silence to the grocery store, walked in silence while getting ice cream and other assortments of snacks and rode again in silence back to the apartment.

Alexander shook his head while looking down at his lap. How did he end up in this situation?
“I moved back for us Alexander.”
           “I know you did Joon.”
“There is no way that kid is more important to you than me…No way.”
“His name is Hoonmin, and he is very important to me.”
“I understand why you think you’d waver because of the distance, but I’m here now. Surely he was just a new shiny toy? Be done with him Xander, I love you.”
“Joon. You know this isn’t healthy for us to be doing. You’re going to resent me for not being able to finish your studies.”
“Then come back to the states with me! You already know English, it won’t be a problem!”
“ I’m not going to abandon my friends and family for you!”
Joon slammed his fist on the table and kicked his chair back as he stood up.
“Aren’t I important enough for you Alexander? Why do you need anyone else? You only need me!”
Alexander flinched when the salt shaker was thrown past his face. He’s never seen Joon act so violently. His gentle teddy bear of a boyfriend was frightening him now.
“Stop acting like a love struck child! You’re mine Alexander! I won’t let him have you.”
“I’m not a piece of furniture you bought Joon! You don’t and never have owned me!”
Alexander felt the table starting to be pushed into his chest, his back pressing firmly against the chair and the chair against the wall. The pressure didn’t let up even as he began to cry out from the pain; his chest ached, he felt like his ribs were pressing into his lungs.
“You are mine.” Joon growled out.
The table was moved; Alexander was grabbed roughly by the wrist and dragged to the bedroom. He felt his heart beating inside his ears; he was terrified of Joon, of what was going to happen to him. His chest was still in pain and it didn’t stop there, he felt rough hands shove him face down onto the bed and a knee press into his back. His head was held flat against the bed. His clothes were being ripped off his body, the knee pressed harder into his back while the hands left his head to pull his legs apart.
“No!” He cried out to no avail, Joon had already pushed into him, dry and unprepared. He felt his insides tear apart while the man who claimed to love him was hurting him, raping him. He pressed his face into the bed and gripped the sheets, crying quietly to himself.

Eli wiped the sweat from his forehead and threw the shovel to the side. Six hours of landscaping took a toll on the body. Luckily Soohyun was coming out of the house with drinks and lunch.
“Thanks again for coming to help my parents’ hyung.”
“It’s fine Eli. I like your parents; they always make the best sandwiches!” He chuckled while handing a plate to Eli.
“Have you seen Kiseop lately Soohyun?”
“No, I haven’t. I’m going to guess that by you asking, you haven’t either.”
“No, and I don’t want too….I don’t think I do. I’m still upset with him for what he did.”
“I know Eli, but…..it’s his only family. You can’t ask him to just abandon them...Why don’t you offer to help?”
“I never thought of that. I guess the thought of helping such a wretched woman sickened me. She did horrible, terrible things to him. I can’t fathom how he’s so willing to help such a woman!”
“That’s his mom. She’ll always be his mom.”
“I don’t want to talk about it. What are you doing with Dongho?”
“Nothing. I’m numb to him and everything that has to do with him. I’m done, Eli. Completely and one hundred percent done with him.”
“You say that now but have you actually sat down with him lately?”
“You know what, I don’t want to talk about this. Let’s just eat and get back to work.”
           “Whatever you say…”
