There are 2 zoos in Shanghai, one is the Shanghai zoo, and one is the Shanghai Wildlife Zoo. The later has a safari area where animals are free to roam about as if they are in their natural habitat without any cages, while the former is just exhibits. So we went to the Wildlife Zoo because it sounds more interesting.
The Wildlife Zoo is actually situated quite near where we are staying so we took a cab in the early morning. We were pretty lucky I guess because the few days and weekends prior to our trip were all very rainy, but the weather was good when we went to the zoo.
Elephants! There are also real elephants for you to ride on in the zoo, but the cost is not worth it, so we rode on these statues instead.
Flamingos, they are super noisy. But kinda pretty with their pink feathers
Pigeons, there are a whole flock of them in this grassland area, and omg, they are scary when in large numbers. You could actually purchase bird food at the entrance of their exhibit and feed them, which is what we did. And it is... VERY SCARY
The whole flock of them will swamp over to you and surround you. But the scariest part is when their beaks peck at the food. It is actually not that bad, not painful, slightly itchy, but the feeling is just scary.
Guess who!??!
It is the giant pandas! This is the first time I am seeing a panda!
We are very fascinated with it, and hence, the excessive camwhore of pandas, these are just some selections.
monkeys.
We went to the children play zoo and there are goats in this enclosure and we can feed them. okiee, actually we just pick up leaves and grasses on the ground and feed it to them. And it goats are actually quite scary, their eyes are lifeless and instead of eyeballs, they have slits, so when they stare at you, it is freaky.
People, meet 妞妞, she is a one month old tiger, and she is super cuteeee!!!
And I get to take a photo with her!!! I want a pet tiger :( Her fur is so soft and fuzzy, and she is just so #%^@#%1436$#%! cute!!
