CRON (Calorie Restriction with Optimum Nutrition)

 So, for the last year I've had borderline hypertension. About 3 weeks ago I decided that it wasn't getting better on its own and that I care more about my health than my Dr ever could.

So I did heaps of reading (on the internet, I hear this annoys GPs).

Out of curiosity, how much does this differ from your "regular" diet (which I'd understood to be lots of fruit and veggies, and assumed didn't have all that much sodium)? And yes, diet can make a big difference. The Raw Foodies can be a bit religious about it, but they do have a point that diet can make quite a big difference.

PS: I suspect that good GPs are only bothered by people who believe they know everything from having done some reading on their own. A "know it all" attitude doesn't win many friends :-)

I went from moderate fruit and veggies to LOTS.

Mostly by replacing bread/rice/pasta.

I still had keeps of sodium in my diet even after removing all added salt in my own eating and cooking.

Things like cheese, commercial hummus and baked beans are all high in sodium.
