It got a little awkward after Sunwoo’s first visit to Jinyoung’s house.

Every time Jinyoung saw Sunwoo, he couldn’t help but remember how his eyes were admiring the younger’s lips. And he was pretty sure Sunwoo knew, too. The latter would purposely get closer to speak to the older and he would lean his head on Jinyoung’s shoulder more often whenever he insisted he was tired. Half the time, Jinyoung would have believed him…if he could hear Sunwoo through his heart beatings.

Sunwoo also came to hang out more at Jinyoung’s house, considering that his father’s “new girlfriend,” Sunwoo decided to call her, would come to his house more as well. Though, Jinyoung didn’t know how he felt about that, since his older sister usually didn’t get home ‘til later during the day after her work…which meant a lot of alone time…

“And then this…goes here and so the answer is…”

“…Three.”

“…”

“Is it three?!”

“Yes!” Jinyoung nodded excitedly as he dropped his pencil and threw his hands in the air, waiting for Sunwoo to do the same so he could give the younger a high-five. Jinyoung was okay with alone time if they were more like this…

However, they didn’t obviously stay like that as time passed on. Sunwoo got more and more forward and Jinyoung didn’t necessarily mind it; he just wished he didn’t become so red all the time whenever the younger would try something. The situations usually ended up with Sunwoo chuckling at him about how cute he was when he was the older one. It was a little embarrassing to know that Sunwoo wasn’t shy about those things at all, thanks to his blunt personality. The younger was always the first to make a move with Jinyoung shyly going along with however Sunwoo led him.

It felt as though Sunwoo really knew what he was doing though even if he didn’t, it wasn’t as though Jinyoung was experienced enough to know, anyhow. Whether Sunwoo really knew what he was doing or not, everything just felt really right with him when they were alone together and Jinyoung liked it.

The furthest they have ever gotten was cuddling on the couch when they were at Jinyoung’s home alone, with Sunwoo planting a few kisses here and there along Jinyoung’s face, as well as his lips. It was always the same, with Jinyoung whispering somewhere along the lines of, “I really like you…” after a kiss and Sunwoo responding with a, “Me, too.”

Jinyoung couldn’t really imagine getting any further with Sunwoo, to be quite honest, and if the thought did linger in his head at one point, he immediately turned red.

Taking things slow was okay with Jinyoung; they had all the time in the world, he was sure.

“She has two kids. Like our family!”

“Oh. That’s cool,” Sunwoo muttered half-heartedly, reaching for some kimchi with a blank face, in contrast to his little sister’s interested one.

“Yeah…I invited her over for some dinner tomorrow and she’s bringing her kids. I’m sure you guys will get along; you guys are about the same ages. I hope it’s all right.”

“Dad,” the boy began with a small sigh, glancing up from his bowl of rice to find a rather excited expression plastered on his father’s face, causing him to shake off his thoughts. His gaze fell from his father to the floor beside him. “…I’m not hungry anymore. Thank you for the meal.” He got up from his seat, putting down his chopsticks onto the table (a little harder than he had intended) before heading for his room.

He closed the door behind him quietly, leaning against it before sliding down to the ground with closed eyes. He didn’t expect his father to stay single forever, he knew this…but he just couldn’t imagine his father to be with someone that wasn’t his mom. He also didn’t expect his sister to know what he was feeling either, since she was a baby at the time. It was as though he was alone in all of this and no one to lean on because they didn’t know how he felt. No one did.

With a silent sigh, he clutched his chest.

It just hurt too much.

He sat there quietly for quite a while, a sad expression covering his face. Judging by how he couldn’t hear voices over the door anymore, he assumed his father and sister returned to their own rooms to get ready for bed. It hadn’t been that long, had it?

He glanced at the clock, realizing he had been doing nothing but sit there for about two hours or so. “…” He said nothing before digging through his pocket to take out his cell phone. His hands fiddled with the item for a short moment before flipping it open. The tips of his fingers hesitantly brushed over the keys as he bit his lip, his mind trying to decide if he should text Jinyoung or not.

With a towel hanging down from his neck, Jinyoung walked into his room and curiously glanced over at the bedside table when he heard his phone vibrate. He settled himself down on the bed, reaching for the phone and flipping it open.

He stopped in the middle of dabbing his face dry, blinking and opening the message.

Ofc. You too! ^^

Laying on his bed, Sunwoo said nothing as he just stared at the phone screen before closing it and placing it on the bedside table. He turned onto his side, slipping his hands underneath his pillow as he heaved a small sigh, closing his eyes.

Something about talking with Jinyoung always got him at ease. He didn’t know what it was…but no matter how long or short the conversation, talking with Jinyoung always made it better.

Rrrrrrr-

Sunwoo opened his eyes, reaching for his phone again.

From: Jinyoung Hyung
Sweet dreams, Sunwoo! ^^

He smiled, placing the phone on his bedside table one last time before sliding his eyes shut to sleep.

When dinner time came around the next day, Sunwoo almost wished he never woke up that morning. He stood there with his father and Yoonji, forced to face the reality he refused to face for the past few months, his face blank as a familiar woman made her way inside of the house, two teens following in behind her with a bag full of fruits to bring for the Cha family.

“…”

“These are my kids, Sunwoo and Yoonji.”

“…”

“Kids, say hi to Jinyoung and Jiyoung.”
