I dunno why I can't upload to photobucket so I decided to try out flicker
9th April 2011
Our awesome hotel, I love the location ! Near to MRT , shopping and FOOD!
We took the MTR to Tsim Sha Tsui station where we randomly choose a restaurant for breakfast.
I think the restaurant is call Tsim Sha Tsui restaurant, lol. I remember there are branches everywhere. Boyfriend thought he order fried beehoon only but turns out the set have both porridge and beehoon. Polo Bun (Pineapple Bun) is nice <3 I LOL at the HUGE can of SUGGGGAAAARRR, Whee~~
Next we head to Star Ferry (and got lost)
Pass by iSquare shopping mall and the infamous Chungking Mansion \(O_O)/
Reach Star ferry Harbor! Saw some school students holding tin cans for donation.
We found the Hong Kong Tourism Board branch at Star Ferry and after talking to the lady staff( so beautiful, omg how did the ladies get such smooth skin?), we totally change our itinerary, originally today we wanted to spend at kowloon side for ladies street/ temple street etc but we realized the Duk Ling Ride destination is at Hong Kong island which matches with day 3 plans.
As it was still early, we visit the avenue of stars.
pass by some cultural museum thingy
Avenue of Stars! I'm amaze there are joggers here XD
Andy Lau's hand is huge!
I got a bit kanchiong that we only left 10 mins till our Duk Ling ride and we are still quite far away from port, and I keep urging my boyfriend to hurry. We actually run but in the end the boat is so slow . +kenna box by boyfriend+
Although we reach early, the Duk Ling took a while to berth, maybe the water too choppy? I'm not too sure.
It's very windy! There's a recording that introduce the history of the boat and Hong Kong. I'm amazed at the city landscape , a very serene and peaceful feeling.
I was totally seasick after the ride. Legs shaky, vision dizzy, nauseous ... took me a while to recover . + sits on bench and pant +
We pass by IFC mall for toilet break , IFC mall is very grand, imagine a glamourous version of ION XD
Pass by Hang Seng bank to reach Soho!
Tram and Taxi!
The start of SOHO! (South of Hollywood)
They certainly earn the title for the longest escalator! The hilly streets is quite steep and so escalator is really helpful! It is also a bit like LKF with plenty of restaurants.
We tried this Greek place! HK$78 (S$13) for set meal, I like the deco, very Mediterranean with white wash wall and mosaic tiles wall and wooden furniture. Pasta have a awesome seafood favor but my boyfriend find the dory too salty. I love the fries! It's like Mos burger's fries but more moist . The Chocolate pudding's appearance is meh but the taste is WICKED! ABSOLUTELY YUMMY!
After a well deserve rest, we explore more of Soho, it's like so hilly with many interesting shops. It reminds me of the ghibli movie, err I can't remember but the female lead wrote the story for "The Cat Returns" and have Japanese version of country road.
We even pass by the side street famous to sell Halloween items like costumes, masks, hats, glow sticks and wigs!
H&M a famous department store which is recommend online? Inside reminds me of sheng shion though, messy! Maybe there's a sales XD
After exploring Soho, we took the old style tram towards the Bank of China area , in order to head for the Peak!
It's very small, cramp, noisy, shaky ... it's a interesting experience!
We alight at a stop beside this woooooo, impressive building.
I was really dying for toilet break and we didn't pass by any toilets at all. When I see the Starbucks inside a Citibank building, I run for it. However the toilet is really located waayyyy inside the building (seems like eternal journey oTL) and when we finally reach, it is locked.
We went back outside and look for the information counter ,
Gin: We are looking for toilet
(-_-)face guard : *point to the door we came from
Gin: but it's locked...
(-_-)face guard: * give key *
Gin: O_O
Just like that. Inside the toilet, boy are they specific, each door/ sink have a sign like for eg "For Starbucks use only"
We continue up the steep hill and reach..
Don't get trick by the long queue! If you have the octopus card , you can just scan and go! The queue is more to buy the return trip package etc.
The peak tram is very steep, I can really feel gravity pulling me into the seat when the train travel up the hill. Even the outside scenery looks like it's tilted XD
We head directly to the sky terrace~ there's a photographer who will take your photo and it cost... S$20 for a normal picture (vomit blood)
One thing about Hong Kong is they like dogs as pets! So cute!
We try the hong kong trail - a 40-60 min hiking trail which offer vast scenery. It feels so refreshing to breathe in the fresh mountain/ forest air while walking through the shaded trail. There are plenty of joggers, family with kids, tourist and couples.
And the view is SO MUCH BETTER than sky terrace! Seriously don't bother spending money on Sky Terrance when this hiking trail offer so much more for free!
Boyfriend: That is if you're willing to walk so far out too
Gin: |||oTL
We also get to view our first sunset. It feel so surreal to watch the little red dot disappear behind the mountains.
After the sunset, we start to lose daylight and have to depend on the orange streetlight. Once in a while there are people who pass us by, thank god! It's kinda scary to trek in night and we keep taking frequent rest, lucky there are some benches dotted through the trail.
- The peak lookout, www.openrice.com have a lot of bad reviews of this place though.
There's a art exhibitions about old style HongKong
By the time we return to the peak , the scenery is lit with many twinkling lights. We went to the level 3 free exploration to admire the night scenery XD
Dinner time! Again recommend from openrice, we try spaghetti 360. We are seat at outdoor where we enjoy the cool mountain air. As I already tried pasta for lunch, I tried something I never try before, squid ink rice with crayfish! Taste interesting, the crayfish texture feel very spongy! The drink is weird! Taste like herbal drink with sprite |||oTL
My boyfriend pasta taste too soggy for my liking (I like my pasta al dente!) but there's this interesting earthy favor to the sauce! Wonder what herbs do they use.
Gino 's Gelato
After dinner, we rush to Madam wax museum, once again there are packed full of people from tour groups.
<3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 opps! Hi Chris + runs +
They even have a interactive photo where you can wear/use props when taking photos with wax figurines.
We are not fans of horror so we skip this.
At the gift shop I utterly snap when yet another China tourist shove me till I bellow "stop pushing already, there's no space in front!" Thinking back I should be yell in Chinese for her to understand. Poor boyfriend have to pacify me :Ginzilla mood:
The return trip for peak tram is long queue |||oTL lucky it move fast. It's a looong journey back.
One thing the Hong Kong MTR is similar to Singapore MRT is people like to block the train door and squeeze through the masses XD
