Funny you should mention this feeling like a Jdrama. I haven't seen either season so I can't comment on the drama itself, but there were articles about Yoshitaka Yuriko filming for season two that went on and on about awful it was shooting for a Kdrama. I suspect the things they talked about being difficult were accurate (getting the script last-minute, filming in really cold temperatures, etc.), but the article came off has having heavy undertones anti-Korean sentiment to me. So anyway, I found it a little ironic that the end product seemed "Japanese" to you.
Kdramas have a HUGE problem with last minute writing, filming, post production editing, etc. And while Jdramas also live shoot their dramas they don't try to produce as much content in a week. A good example is Spy Myung Wol which came out last year. The actress had a breakdown during the middle of filming and left the country without telling anyone. The only way they got her to come back was threatening to sue her for breach of contract. They ended up having to stall the drama for a week because she wasn't there to film the scenes. It was a mess, but very telling about the work schedules of actors when they go into Kdramas. Some have gone on the record saying that while filming they barely get any sleep
( ... )
Yeah, I don't doubt the severity of the filming situation for dramas there, it's just that the article ended up taking it a step further with implications of "we Japanese are so much better than those Koreans." :/
I was wondering how she was in it. I don't love her to begin with, but I'm always curious about how actors perform (act) in different situations.
Only 2 episodes in and I'm loving it. Since watching both seasons close together, I'm noticing little style changes. Some I like, and some I'm not sure about quiet yet. But it's a good show!
