Pounced, painted, and embroidery started.

Sorry it has been awhile since I last posted about anything, especially on my latest embroidery project which I've dubbed the heraldic embroidery since it has my SCA arms in the middle. I've been sick, very sick, and very tired from being sick, so it took me awhile to get the various parts going, and once going, to find time to write about what I' ( Read more... )

Thank you.

I am hoping it may spur others to try prick & pounce. It takes a bit more time than tracing on a light, but I know I hesitated for a long time because I just didn't know how easy it really is.

This is the most intricate pattern I've seen pounced, except for some work I think Attach_Laurel did. Congratulations!

FYI, Mary Corbet of NeedleNThread blog did a long article on pouncing and pricking. If you don't know her blog, she often covers historical goldwork and a lot of satin thread work - her main love is ecclesiastical work.

You can google her blog easily enough - forgive me for not including links to everything, but I'm tired today - went out yesterday.

And I see that you DO know Eownyn Amberdrake.
She's kinda my mentor - has helped me SO much!

You might be interested in my wiki. I have collected a heap of 16th C variations of marigolds, roses, etc etc, and then grouped them further under goldwork, satin stitch, stumpwork etc.

They are only from places where I could legally use the images, of course. And I've still got heaps more to do. Just google Elmsley Rose wiki and it'll come up :-) There's an article in my blog on how to navigate it!

This is fun! Finding a whole new someone that has the same interest as me :-)

I had just pricked out the pattern, when Mary Corbet posted her blog post on prick & pounce.

Yes, I do read it as well, as she's given great info on how to do stitches, and especially on how to dress the slate frame. I could follow that a lot easier than any directions I'd read before, online or in a book.

I'll look up the wiki in a bit as well. I found the discussion you mentioned before.

And glad to make another friend with similar interests. :-)
