Inner Mongolia :D

The trip to Mongolia was a serene one, no rushing from place to place, it was just so relaxing. We spent most of our time traveling though, which kinda suck a little other than that it was quite fine actually. :D

I'd love to go back if I have the chance, maybe for the 5 days horse-riding tour. Abrasion till my legs and butt lan diao please.

scenery on the way to Inner Mongolia.
we took train from Beijing and it took us 12hours to reach our destination.
the train was amazingly quite ok, other than the fact that i was quite very worried about being robbed because of the many terrible stories about China.

finally reached the grassland after a 1.5hr bus ride from the town area
蒙古包 as our backdrop

genghis khan's portrait is always hung facing the door which is usually built shorter than most people's height
this is so that everyone can bow before him before entering

having some Mongolia snacks while sipping on their specially brewed Mongolia milk

mr black at the back was my ride, too damn jerky and really competitive
he hates to lose out to the other horses so when the others run in front of him, he'd always pick up speed.
so naughty

yay to big open space
a pity they were suffering from a drought, otherwise it would have been GREEN

setting off for a jump shot

i'm good at jump shots

setting sun

that night was the coldest night i've ever experienced. i bet it was around 0 degrees outside and there was no hot water at all. washing faces and legs was a freaking chore, once my hands touched the running water, it felt like it was going to freeze la.

sleeping at night was terrible. my whole body felt so cold even under 2 layers of blankets+gloves. i kept in the same position for the whole night because once i moved any parts of my body to a not warmed part of the bed, my whole body started shivering. it was sucha pain to try and sleep in the same position for the whole night. waking up was terrible too, totally didn't want to get my body expose to the cold. in the end, we didn't wake up to catch the sun rise, kinda sad too.

trying to capture our misty warm breath, me failed.

our "comfy" room

after the grassland, we set off to visit the desert.
this was taken when we were riding some thrill ride to the peak of the desert.
felt like a miniature roller coaster ride because of all the bumps and sharp descents

i'm at the highest point of this desert~!

then we went for camel riding next.
all of them have a nonchalent face, very kiam pa but cute haha!!

quite scary because there wasn't anywhere stable to hold onto,
can only hold onto the hairy hump

on the last day, we visited somewhere which i can't remember the name.
they showed us how to differentiate the different ranks of the officials which was quite interesting.
i belong to a high ranking bannerman family because my flag's a bordered yellow. the only one higher than this is the plain yellow banner

after that we went to visit the museum at Inner Mongolia and they have fossils of dinosaurs that were dug up in that area.
eggs of the dinos

this was the largest dinosaur bones being dug up in Inner Mongolia

hello mamooth
