A/N Happy ending and a bunch of schoomp too, what can I say, I'm in a sappy mood.

“Cas?” Dean stood and stared at the sight in front of him. The last person... angel, whatever, that Dean expected to be knocking on Bobbies door was now peering at him through the fly screen.

“Hello Dean” Castiel replied, a small smile playing on his lips.

“What... I mean... How” Dean stuttered. He didn’t understand what was going on. Cas had left, had returned to heaven when he, Dean and Sammy had finally found God and Lucifer had been sent screaming back to hell. So why the angel was here again Dean didn’t know. Not that he wasn’t happy to see him again, he was. His gut was apparently so happy it was doing back flips. It was a very disconcerting feeling if he was honest. Not to mention... weird he thought and then decided not to think about it... at all... ever. It was way to chick flick for him.

“If you and your brothers need me again for some shit y’all can forget it” Dean snapped, his brain going to the only reason he could think of for the angel to be here.

“I am not here as an angel Dean” Castiel replied, his smile fading. This was not the reaction he’d been hoping for.

“Ok then” Dean said warily as he pushed the screen back and stepped out on to the porch. Suddenly thinking how weird it was that Castiel had knocked on the door, not like he ever used to knock.

Finally getting a good look at Cas, he looked good, Dean thought, real good. Different some how, though Dean couldn’t work what was different.

“You look... different” he told the angel and then added quickly, for reasons only known by his subconscious “Good... but different”

“I am no longer an angel Dean” Castiel told him as a way of reply. “Maybe that is why”

“Not and angel?” Dean sputtered.

“No”

“Then... I mean... what?”

“Human”

“Human?”

“Yes”

“Um... Okay, I need a beer, you want a beer?” Dean asked as he all but fled back into the house and bee lined it to the fridge.

“No thank you” Cas answered, following the hunter.

“So, um, why?” Dean asked once he had his beer in hand, leaning back against the counter, eyes running over Cas. “Is this a punishment or something?” Dean thought it must be. Cause he knows how much being an angel meant to Castiel. Hell he had seen it when Zach, the douche bag, had thrown him into the future.

“No, not a punishment, a reward” Cas replied, pulling Dean from his thoughts.

“A reward... what the fuck Cas? You love being an angel, how can this be a reward?”

“I asked my father for this, he offered me anything, asked me what I wanted. I told him, I didn’t want to never see you again, that I wished to know what it was to feel like a human feels. To know for sure if the love I felt as an angel was real, was the type of love a human would, does feel. I asked him to make me human so I could come back to you. I know I’m not much use to you anymore, now that I’m human, and I know you will never love me the way I love you, but I would really like it Dean, if you would allow me a place in your life. I wish to be your friend, if you’ll let me.”

Dean stood open mouthed and stared at Cas, trying to process everything the ex-angel had just told him. for me, for me, he did it for me kept spinning around his brain, on a loop.

He tried to form words, his mouth opening and then snapping shut a few times before he gave up and stood up from the counter, squaring his shoulders. He had always been better with actions than words anyway.

He was more than a little nervous as he made his way to Cas. You’re allowed now, he’s human, he loves you! he kept thinking over and over. So used to telling himself no where Cas was concerned. He had accepted his feelings for the angel a long time ago, but he had also convinced himself he was alone in his love. He had never been so glad to be wrong.

“Cas” he all but whispered as he reached the angel, his angel. Even if he was a man now, to Dean he would always be his angel.

He stopped when he was less than a foot from Cas, raising his hands to Castiels’ neck. Holding him gently, looking deep into his eyes before pressing his forehead to Cas’. Dean let all the love and longing and want flow through him. Leaning in slowly, he pressed a chaste kiss to Castiel’s soft lips.

Drawing back a little, forehead still resting against Cas’ he smiled.

“Love you too Cas” he murmured softly.

Before Castiel could reply Dean leaned in again and kissed him again. Harder this time, deep and passionate. Finally both of them felt the peace and sense of home that they had been missing ever since they had saved the world together.

Sighing happily, a smile on his lips, Castiel returned the kiss for all he was worth.
