I am in Portugal on the goat farm and I am doing just fine! :) The Portuguese winter reminds me of the Irish summer, only sunnier. It's pretty lovely here. And I get to water the goats and play with clay I dug from the ground and eat delicious portuguese food and dig holes and plant things. Yes but in the 18 years this farm has existed, and after the hundreds and hundreds of goats which have been born, only one goat has died giving birth. So clearly there isn't that big of a risk. We risk our lives doing many things that are less meaningful than having a child. And I am not saying hospitals and modern medicine is bad, I am just lamenting the fact that we have lost such instincts. I feel it is again an example of how dependant we have all become on 'experts' and 'professionals'... we forget that we are independent beings who are capable of quite a lot on our own.

I met a couple of Van-Families when I was in Australia. They had taken their kids out of school and were just homeschooling them on the go. It seemed pretty amazing. Not just as single people or couples, but to see people still doing amazing things once they have kids, since that's something I always want to think is near impossible.

I totally find it inspiring to see people do awesome things with kids! I have also met many kids after growing up in such environments and find them, on average, to be interesting and worldly and mature, having grown up in an alternative environment. The lesson being, kids don't neccessarily stop your adventures.
