Avon Breast Cancer Walk 2008
Well kids, here it is, my big exciting announcement!
This year my mom, aunt, and I have all signed up and formed a team to do the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. This is something I am immensely proud to be part of not only for the physical challenge but to celebrate my grandmother being 10 years free of breast cancer. We've created a team in her namesake, Joan of Heart, to walk in honor of her.
This is something that has deeply effected my family and I over the past 10 years. As a child and even still today, my grandmother has been my world: she taught me to read, sew, sing, bake, play cards, to stay true to myself, to fight for everything I believe in, to be strong when life gets hard, and most importantly, that family is everything. The thought of losing her 10 years ago scared me into oblivion. That she has not only been cancer free but has started and finished her Associate's Degree in the last 10 years, traveled all over the world, and still managed to be the matriarch of our family is something so courageously beyond me. I admire her, cherish her, and love her so much.
Breast cancer effects millions of families all over the world. Please donate to the cause. I am really calling on all of you to raise the $1,800 I need to participate in this walk. Help me end the fight against breast cancer.
