Donghae takes Eunhyuk out on a date, and afterwards they think back on old times.
Eunhyuk was beyond tired and sweaty, and wanted nothing more than to collapse in a heap in the corner of the dance studio. With two new groups scheduled to debut in less than three weeks rehearsals had been doubled to make sure everything was perfect, and Eunhyuk was practically running on fumes. He dropped down onto one of the benches, wiping the sweat from his face with a towel that he kept looped around his neck, eying the younger trainees as they packed up their bags, thankful that the rehearsals were over for the night.
Eunhyuk had thought about dozing off for a little while right there on the bench, but some other trainees rushed into the room to whisper in the ears of the ones that were packing up, and soon the room was buzzing with excited whispers. Eunhyuk sat forward to listen, taking another sip from his water bottle. Though he couldn’t understand every hushed word that was said, he was able to pick up something about Donghae, and for some reason he felt rather… revived just at the mention of his friends name.
The door to the studio opened up yet again, and none other than Donghae himself stepped in, and though the whispers from the trainees stopped Eunhyuk swore he heard a few of the girls squeal. Donghae had come dressed in a nice pair of black slacks, with a matching dress shirt. He’d rolled the sleeves up to his elbows, and had even left the top few buttons undone, leaving his collarbones visible along with a bit of his chest. He had on a slightly shiny maroon colored vest over that. All together it made for a very suave looking Donghae, and Eunhyuk arched a brow as he looked his friend over.
“What’d you get all dressed up for? Come to show off.” Eunhyuk lifted his towel to wipe at his face again, running it through his hair afterwards.
“You know I don’t have to get dressed up to show off. I came to pick you up.”
Eunhyuk blinked twice, looking at Donghae oddly as he tilted his head. “What for? I don’t need a ride.”
As much as some of the trainees would have loved to stay and watch the legendary Eunhae couple, they were all exhausted and had insanely early schedules in the morning, so one by one they finished packing their things and left, eventually leaving the two of them alone.
“I’m taking you out on a date. Wife says I have to.”
“A date? What for? And don’t you think I’m underdressed?”
Donghae opened his mouth to respond but stopped, realizing he’d forgotten what his wife had told him to say. His wife knew him well though, and that was why he’d been sent off with a note in his pocket. He reached in to retrieve the note, opening up and reading it over silently first before he repeated it.
“I’m to take you out on a date because she wants to thank you for babysitting Max, for having your mother send over those casseroles that she likes, and for sending all those flowers to the hospital when the baby was born, but she wishes you would have been able to come visit even though she understands how busy you are. And don’t forget to buy diapers. Er… that last bit is for me. I think.” Donghae smiled once more as he tucked the note back into his pocket, looking back to Eunhyuk. “So come on, lets go.”
“You have got to be kidding me… like this?! Can’t we reschedule? I stink bad enough as it is and I’m soaked in sweat.”
Donghae pouted slightly, fidgeting where he stood near the doorway. “She’ll get mad at me if we don’t do anything, Eunhyuk. C’mon.. they have showers here, you always use to bring clothes to change into.”
Eunhyuk rolled his eyes but stood, grabbing his gym back. “Yes, but I didn’t bring fancy stuff like that. I’m going to look like an idiot going to a nice restaurant dressed in sweats when you’re all dressed up like that.”
“Aish… she dressed me. I was hoping we could go get pizza or something and see a movie.”
Eunhyuk couldn’t help but to snort with laughter, shaking his head slightly. “I was wondering why you were all… coordinated.”
“I know how to match my clothes!” Donghae pouted once more, reaching out to thwap Eunhyuk’s shoulder.
“No you don’t. If it wasn’t for the coordi-noonas you would’ve looked a hot mess every day. You’re just lucky your wife has more fashion sense than you do.” He hurried off before he could get hit again, leaving Donghae to wait outside the shower area. He showered and changed into a simple pair of black track pants and a white t-shirt and sneakers. He pulled his jacket on as he headed out, then pulled his beanie down onto his head. “You’re buying, right?”
“Yes, she said I had to. Why else do you think I just want pizza?” Donghae laughed, hopping a step or two away when Eunhyuk tried to hit his shoulder. He hopped right back afterwards though, looping his arm around his friend. “But anyways, thank you for everything. All that stuff on the note and then some.”
The two of them had a blast at the pizza restaurant, laughing and joking just like they always did when they were together. After that they went to see the late showing of some horror movie Donghae had been wanting to see but was not allowed to watch at home because his wife could not handle scary movies at all. Eunhyuk hadn’t cared that much for the movie either, but it was nice to be able to just sit back and relax with his friend.
It was well past midnight by the time they made it back to Eunhyuk’s, but Donghae still insisted on coming in for a little while, just like he always did. The two of them flopped on the sofa, though Eunhyuk made sure to grab the remote before Donghae had a chance. Donghae was an avid channel surfer, and his short attention span never allowed him to keep it on one channel long enough for Eunhyuk to even figure out what was going on. He turned the TV on, flipping it over to some music channel in hopes the changing songs would be enough to keep Donghae occupied for a while.
“So I’m surprised your wife let you wander off this long with both of the kids at home…”
“Nah, Sihan is watching them.” Donghae slouched down in the sofa, propping his feet up on the coffee table.
“Who?”
“Sihan.”
“Did you get a new neighbor?”
Donghae blinked, tilting his head to the side as he looked to Eunhyuk oddly. “And they say I’m the one with short term memory. Sihan, Eunhyuk. You know… we’re Eunhae… so… Sihan. Siwon and Hangeng.”
Eunhyuk laughed softly, wondering how he could forget something like that so easily. “It’s going to take some getting use to, them being together again.”
“It was bound to happen sooner or later. I’m just glad it was sooner.” Donghae reached out then, looping his arm around Eunhyuk’s neck to pull him closer, whether he was ready for it or not. “I was going to see if they wanted to go on a double date, but that would defeat the purpose of them babysitting.”
Eunhyuk rolled his eyes once more, but shifted to let his head rest on Donghae’s shoulder. They sat like that, quietly, for as long as Donghae’s attention span would allow. Donghae resorted to poking at Eunhyuk’s ribs then, and that turned into an all out tickle war. By the time the tickle war was over they were both left breathless and sweaty, Donghae sprawled atop Eunhyuk on the sofa, the television program long forgotten. That’s where the kisses began, hot and passionate and needy, and from there a trail of clothing had been left from the living room, all the way up the stairs, and into the bedroom.
Sometimes Eunhyuk wondered why they even bothered doing anything else when Donghae came over. Even something as simple as watching television with Donghae wound up being more like foreplay, because regardless of whatever activity they chose to do, the end result was always two bodies writhing together in between the sheets, stopping only when they were both a sweaty, sticky, exhausted mess… not that Eunhyuk was complaining.
This night was no exception, and Eunhyuk found himself even more sweaty now than after the dance rehearsals had ended. He stretched out on his back in the bed, letting his head come to rest on the arm which Donghae had thrown haphazardly over both pillows. Times like this were always bittersweet for Eunhyuk, because he knew Donghae would always leave in the morning. It wasn’t that he really wanted him to stay either, his feelings were so jumbled up he couldn’t explain them, and though the sex was always great and left him feeling quite exhilarated, it always left him feeling conflicted as well.
“…Why do we keep doing this?”
“Mmm?” Donghae opened his eyes, staring at the moonlit ceiling for a moment before rolling onto his side to look at Eunhyuk, though he made sure to keep his arm in place.
“This… you’re married Donghae. This isn’t suppose to happen.”
“She doesn’t care, you know that.”
Eunhyuk brought a hand up, fingertips rubbing at the inner corners of his eyes. “That doesn’t make it right.”
“Since when did you decide to be ethical? Or… moral… whatever it is.” Donghae wrapped his other arm about Eunhyuk’s waist, fingers tracing small circles over his hip. “I was with you before I ever met her, she knows that too. Quite well.”
Eunhyuk couldn’t help the chuckle that escaped him then, a bit of a smile gracing his lips. “I’ll never forget the look on her face. I imagine its bad enough working in a clothing store and having people going at it in the dressing rooms, but then to open the door and have it be too members of Super Junior… I thought she was going to fall over.”
It was Donghae’s turn to snicker then, leaning in a bit closer to tuck his face in near the crook of Eunhyuk’s neck. “You remember how red her face was when we finally brought the clothes up to the counter to pay? It took her five tries just to get your jeans in the bag after she rang them up.”
“It didn’t help that you left stains on them. I didn’t even like them that much, but you stained them so I had to buy them.”
“It’s not my fault they looked so good on you. You should’ve known better than to invite me in there to have a look anyways. And you can’t fuss much because you went back with me the next day.”
Eunhyuk rolled his eyes, even as he snuggled himself in closer to Donghae. “You went back to that store every day for a week, just to flirt.”
Donghae laughed again, grinning once more. “It worked, didn’t it? And don’t complain, we had some pretty fun times, the three of us. She misses you, you know. She thinks you’re mad at her, even though you did all that stuff.”
Eunhyuk arched a brow, looking to Donghae even though he wasn’t able to see much of his face. “What? Why? Why would I be mad?”
Donghae shrugged, continuing to let his fingers trace patters over Eunhyuk’s hip. “You quit coming to see her… to see us… When she found out she was pregnant with Max and we thought it might’ve been yours. But even though it wasn’t, you never came back.”
“It just scared me, that’s all. I mean how would I explain that to people? To my family? It was just a really big reality check. I wasn’t a teenager anymore, I couldn’t keep behaving like one.”
Donghae rolled his eyes, even though he knew Eunhyuk wouldn’t be able to see. “You don’t have to have sex every time you come over, Eunhyuk. I mean that’s nice and all but it’s not a requirement. We’re not THAT bad. We can behave…. Maybe.”
“The word behave isn’t anywhere in your vocabulary, Donghae. But I’ll think about it.”
“At least call and talk to her on the phone or something? You can’t knock her up over the phone… if that was the case you would have knocked me up YEARS ago.”
Eunhyuk snorted with laughter again, rolling away from Donghae as he laughed, sides shaking. Donghae grinned as well, poking at Eunhyuk’s ribs once more. “What, you know it’s true. As many times as you would call when I was in China with Super Junior M. You were even dirtier on the phone than you were in person. All that porn you watched without me…”
“Please, your porn collection was bigger than mine.”
“Nah… half of it I borrowed from Sungmin. He had so much porn he might as well have called it a library.”
Eunhyuk laughed softly, shaking his head. “I miss all that stuff, don’t you?”
Donghae just shrugged. “Somewhat, but it’s hard for me to say I miss it all, because if we were all still together I wouldn’t have my wife… my kids. I’m happy with where my life is right now, Eunhyuk. Even if I don’t get to see you all that often, it just makes the times I do get to see you mean that much more.”
“Baahhh… if you’re going to get all mushy on me, just go to sleep.” He poked at Donghae lightly before rolling onto his side as well, wrapping an arm around Donghae to snuggle the other man close. At least that well Donghae wouldn’t be able to see the way Eunhyuk bit down on his lower lip, worrying it between his teeth. Hopefully Donghae would be oblivious to the way his words made Eunhyuk’s heart sink, because as much as he liked Donghae’s wife, she was a wonderful lady, he couldn’t help but to think that if Donghae hadn’t met her, Eunhyuk would still be able to say Donghae was his completely, and that they would’ve still been together as a happy couple.
It wasn’t as though he didn’t want Donghae to be happy, Donghae was his best friend still and he wanted the best for him, but each night Donghae spent in his bed, even with his wife’s permission, each morning that he left, it made it that much harder for Eunhyuk to let go.
A/N: This is for my beloved little LJ Ninja
tees2mai, who wanted some Eunhae... er... HaeEun? This didn't quite turn out how I had originally planned, as there's no actual sex (sorry) and the ending turned out a bit sad, but I hope you still find it acceptable and worthy of your stalking skills.
