Does anyone have a Kindle Fire? What do you think of it?

I'd like to get a tablet, but the iPad is serious overkill for what I'm interested in doing (reading, streaming movies/tv, doing some web browsing).  If you've got a Kindle Fire, what do you think of it?

I just got a Kindle 7" HD 32GB a week before Christmas, so I'm still in that "new and shiny" phase ( ... )

Oh NO, no collections? I love my collections! I have a 2nd gen Kindle (the white one) which is still ticking along fine. I expect I'll use that for reading in bed. I've had Amazon Prime for ages, ever since I used it for diaper shipments, and will probably continue getting it, since we can use it on our Blu-Ray too.
Good to know about the collections. I may have to take a look at Calibre.

I have the Kindle Fire and plan on upgrading to the Kindle Fire HD soon.

I never thought I'd own a tablet at all, any kind really. An ipad was way too expensive but when the Kindle Fire came out it was actually something realistically I could have. I've had mine for almost a year now and I adore it. It's perfect for streaming movies/tv and web browsing. I tend to use it for checking my email and sites like LJ when I don't want to deal with getting on my laptop. Even thought I have a Kindle Keyboard I've been using the Fire more for reading lately.

I think for the things you say you want a kindle fire is a perfect product for you.

The HD is the one I'm looking at - like you, I couldn't imagine getting a tablet, but the Kindle Fire is tempting me greatly.

My Dad & sister both have one and seem to like 'em! But my dad mostly uses his for ESPN apps and Angry Birds. :P

I am not looking for all that much functionality, really. Just "movies and reading," for the most part.

I have both a Kindle Fire (last year's) and an ipad 2, and more and more I'm using the ipad for everything, including the Kindle app. I like the Kindle Fire, but it's bulkier than the ipad, has a shorter battery life, and the apps are a bit more jerky overall. Web browsing is also more of a pain in the ass than on the ipad, I find it to be slower to load and type. It's still a very nice device, though, and I'd be happy with it if I didn't have to use the ipad so much for things like typing notes and .pdf viewing. I use the wifi only options for both devices.

That's kind of what I'm afraid of, but I've got a laptop and a netbook for browsing. What I'm really looking for is reading and streaming media, not so much the other stuff. My husband has an iPad and I just can't seem to justify all those options for "I want to read books and watch movies." Sigh.

I love my fire (this comment is from my fire) . Ive had it about a year in addition to my kindle keyboard. I don't need all the features that a tablet has, and the fire keeps up with my reading, light gaming, and web browsing needs. I honestly use my fire as much as my kindle keyboard. I wish the fire has a swipe keyboard, but that's my only real complaint.
