There are few tennis players I have loved as much as I love Marat Safin. I missed him beating Pete Sampras at the US Open in 2000 and first saw him lose to Goran Ivanisevic at Wimbledon in 2001. that made me ridiculously nostalgic and sad :/ i'm not even that sad he's retired just because i know he'll enjoy life more off the tour, but i still get pretty bummed thinking that the only way i'll see him play again is by popping in a few old DVDs i have (like the AO 05 SF ♥)
