Frustrating Fourth

Jul 10, 2007 00:08

I really like taking the day to relax and enjoy something like the fourth with, and even enjoy the weekend with work folks who's only time is the weekend.  Idling through the afternoon with my girlfriend is wonderful.  However, I really hate having deadlines hanging over my head during times like those.  It steals away how great they're suppose to ( Read more... )

It's alright. Sometimes it's necessary to vent. Even when you're venting, it's still pretty light and still pretty interesting.

I know this might be a little weird, cuz I know we haven't talked for a long time. I know it's my fault, but as you might know, stuff was really messed up in my life for a while. I just wanted to tell you (well, this might not be the right way to, but it's the best I can summon up without feeling too shy to do so) whatever happened between us wasn't your fault. you're a really great guy and I wish you luck ( ... )

Olive branches are always welcome, but seriously don't worry about it. I was kind of irritated and a little worried for a while, but I knew you had a lot going on. So I figured I'd let off and hoped that you'd be okay. I eventually figured things out from LJ posts.

Hopefully I'll see you around the campus. I live in the city now, as you probably know from LJ. If you want to meet up sometime I still have the same number.

My specialization is editing also. I'll graduate, with any luck, by next spring. Are Dan and Tim still around Columbia? Are they working in the field? I know it's tough to get out there.

Otherwise good luck in the fall.

Dustin

Tim, who graduated in spring 2006 I think, is working doing something with lights for some company (a rental house or something), but he's gotten small gigs directing and gripping for stuff. Dan just graduated in May and is looking for editing work, but he's done some freelance stuff before.

it's really hard to get a job, but lots of editing jobs come up on craigslist, as I've been noticing. editing is really fun but really hard (I've dabbled in it on my own). a lot of the jobs on craigslist are not much money or free, but experience is worth it. just getting together a reel is the hardest part.

I'm registering for classes on the 19th and I'll know how my schedule will look after that. I'll let you know, maybe we'll both be near each other at the same time. if nothing else, I'm moving closer to campus soon anyway (like around the Kedzie stop on the green line). talk to you soon.

That's the quote I was telling you about, this is in regards to the discussion we were having about pain on Friday during sushi.
