1st Card Dealt [Action]

Sep 05, 2011 16:04

[Luceti, today, there is a very large, sturdy cardboard box lying in the plaza. It’s not walking around, just sitting there, with one foot poking out at a somewhat awkward angle from one corner. It was dumped, at some point in the night, on the front step of the Item Shop, and there it remains. Its occupant has only just now woken up, and he’s not ( Read more... )

[Rogue doesn't exactly get to the Item Shop early, since she likes to enjoy her mornings, but her 'shift' starts at around 10, and that's when she shows up. And stops. And stares.]

The heck?

[Muffled as it is, that voice is familiar. And it raises several questions as to how he's gotten wherever it is he is. The box stays silent and still.

...This could be pretty bad.]

[That's a very bare foot sticking out of a cardboard box - chances are good that it's a New Feather. Probably. Hopefully. The fact that the box is so still could make it a corpse.

Why is it in front of my shop?

And if she was a New Feather somehow stuffed in a box, she would not be a very happy New Feather. So that meant that helping whoever this was could be... problemantic. And if this was some kind of practical joke, then the problem would be on the other err... foot entirely.

The calculations run through her mind in less than a handful of heartbeats, and Rogue's already crouching beside it to try lifting up the box. It's. Stuck pretty tight on whoever this is.]

You alive in there?

[Yeah that box isn't moving quite as much as he wishes it would. He could, in theory, blast the thing away, but he's not sure that wouldn't cause some pretty significant damage. Mainly to himself. Instead, he'll just try what he can to help loosen the damn thing.

Deciding the Play Dead routine can be left by the wayside, the box gives his muffled answer.]

Yeah. I'm alive.

[When Remy gets to the clothing shop to get his coat, there's going to be a Bruce there too, looking through various winter clothes and jackets. Gotta prepare forchillyweather after all. Even if...he's wearing a hoody with a rather familar X symbol on it.He wears this during every New Feather cycle don't worry about it.

He glances over at Remy with a raised eyebrow.]

...

New?

[Remy glances over and Bruce gets a curious look of his own in return. That X symbol is indeed very familiar. And it's making him tread carefully here.]

That I am, mon ami. Jus' woke up here this mornin'. [He's still a little stiff in the neck from it, too.]

You been here a while?

Only a few months.

You uh. Need any help finding anything?

Lookin' for my coat, actually. I hear our clothes are s'posed to show up here, non?

[It really shouldn't be so hard to find in here.]

Guess I should probably find somethin' else to wear while I'm at it.

[ you know. jubilee is out and about - she's got a casset player, she's got headphones on, and she's making some rounds on her skateboard. it's old hat.

that is, up until she looks up and sees a flash of those eyes and a familiar haircolor. then, jubilee of the concrete jungle is going to-

well actually she's going to be too stunned to stop and go arse over teakettle into the fountain. ]

[Okay that looked painful.

Best to see if the girl's okay. Here, Jubilee, have an offered hand out of that fountain. Not the first time he's gone fishing for people.]

You okay, petite? Pretty nasty spill you took dere.

[ and she'll take that hand, coughing up the water she'd inadvertently swallowed. ]

G- [ STARE. ] Gambit?!

[Pats on the back should help with that swallowed water. Although he pauses for just a moment, raising an eyebrow slightly.]

That's de name. [Why is he getting this itching suspicion that his reputation has gotten ahead of him?]

I'd ask yours, but I t'ink you could use some air first.

[Ororo doesn't make it a habit of going into the center of town very often, but today she happens to be busy running errands of her own. Picking up a few groceries for the house, as well as a few gardening materials for that garden she'll be starting up soon.]

[With her arms full, one would think she'd make it easy for herself by just flying back to the house! But for some reason she decides to walk back instead. Of course, this means she's a little bit less focused on where she's going...]

[Gambit's a little preoccupied as well, but still manages to dodge aside and out of the way just before literally running into Storm would be an issue. Still, he's subconsciously tensing up in case anything falls out of that grocery bag.]

Excusez-moi... [And now it's dawning on him exactly who this is. How many X-Men are in this place?] ...Storm.

[Ororo tenses as well; she barely knows him as she hasn't had the chance to work with him at all. But that French drawl is way too distinctive and hard to forget.]

Gambit?

[If she didn't have so many things to carry, she'd be defaulting into a defensive position. Nothing personal, she's just had too much to deal with as of late.]

[Time to tread carefully. Rogue is one story, Storm is another. Good thing he's already gotten some cards to work with... not that he's sure he'll need them, but it's nice to know they're there.]

You can relax, I'm not here to cause any trouble. [Yet. Give him time, he's bound to find something to get into.] Only jus' got here.

[Melaka is really, really not used to a primitive backwards place like this. Walls she could rip through with ease, green everywhere, and even in Versi nights were never quite as dark as they are in Luceti what with the glittering lights of the Uppers shining down on them into all hours. It's for all these multitudes of reasons that come around sundown she's taken to patrolling the neighborhood. Her way - which is is to say, roof to roof.

Unfortunately, what with the lack of flying cars to use as jumping points, she can't always leap between house and shop roofs. Once such instance happens between two houses where the girl leaps, mis-judges the distance slightly, and then falls on her neck from two stories up just to the right of Gambit.

...Don't worry, she did slow herself a little as she fell by scraping her feet and hands on a wall, but that still looked like it hurt and it's canon sadly]

[The jumping from roof to roof thing isn't too far from the norm for him. Falling on her neck, though... even around mutants, there aren't many who can bounce back from that. There's probably not much he can do in a situation like this, but... well, he can at least check if she's alive. Or if she's lucky enough to be one of those few people who can take a broken neck and keep on tickin'.

Where was that clinic, again? He knows he found it.]

Hey, you okay? Anything broke?

[She looks in bad shape - the impact wasn't anything she won't feel very disoriented from, and she's flat on the ground, dazed and generally looking very out of it. But then she grits her teeth, forces herself to breathe, and tries to move. Her muscles are resisting, but her fingers twitch a bit. Ugggh...

Apparently that Cap was real after all]

[Merde. And it's best not to move people hurt like this, isn't it? Remy frowns, thinking up a plan as quick as he can, and starts to shrug out of his coat. She probably needs it more than him.]

Takin' dat as a "no", then.

[Try to figure out journal or try to remember where the clinic was. That is the ultimate question.]
