Why do I get the feeling that Gardner was really the Devil and Brian paid the price of his soul for bringing Justin back.

I know it could be seen that way but actually in my head, Gardner was the proverbial "Grim Reaper's" 'representative' so to speak on earth. The deal Brian made was have Justin return in the flesh and then both of them would go to "the great beyond" or wherever togethe. I originally had the fic almost the way you mentioned but I didn't want the whole 'evil' connotation in it. *scratches head* Hope that makes sense!
