so it turns out that espn's stuart scott is actually NOT mutating into some hideous, inhuman creature. well, he's probably not. at least, that isn't what's been causing the seemingly increasing disfigurement of his head. as i've watched stu over the course of the past year or so, it seemed to me that his head was quite literally changing shape. it seemed as though his eyes were spreading apart, migrating to toward the sides of his head, and that his head itself was changing shape. i noticed that he started wearing glasses in an effort to hide these bizarre changes. this all came to a head yesterday, when on monday night countdown he looked like he had just been popped in the eye by tom jackson. his left lid was puffy & his eye pink & nearly closed. i brought it to dave's attention &, upon looking it up on the internet, dave discovered the strange & (moderately) terrible truth. during training camp, 2002, scott was doing a piece for espn from the jets' camp. while there, a ball projected from an automated football throwing machine HIT HIM IN THE FACE, nearly causing him to lose the eye. how did it happen? a FOOTBALL hit him in the FACE. that fucking sucks.
