Hey Internet Friends!

Question: I am thinking of buying a domain name. Assuming I'm an idiot (which I am) and completely oblivious in this department (which I also am), how does one go about this, and do any of you have any suggestions how I should go about it?

Thanks in advance, you're all beautiful people.

I went the utterly lazy/easy way... I signed up via Geocities, which does everything for you. All you gotta do is pony up the dough and come up with the name.

So young in so many ways my dear fellow! The important thing is to find a good host for the website. I hear Dreamhost is reliable. My friend hosts me on her account on asmallorange.com which seems to be fairly decent. Most of these hosts helps you get the name as well or you can get one yourself from a registrar company. Wish I could talk to you about this and other things. Hope you're not too long without the family.

I use GoDaddy for domain stuff and have been happy with them. For years I've done a very basic thing where the domain just forwards to the current space where my Web site is sitting, but now I'm using GoDaddy for hosting as well.

A friend also recommended Bluehost, I think it was. I think you have lots of options for companies to do domain names/hosting, and they all seem pretty inexpensive.

oh my, you are serious! haha.
well, i have no idea about how one creates a website, but i'm assuming there are associated costs with claiming a domain name...and since kacey and i are the founding members of dirty and doomed, we'd gladly chip in.
