For possibly the first time since I started, this week brought a slight variation on the usual routine at uni. ( No pictures under this link. )

Are you going to see the new X-Men Origins of Wolverine movie?

Probably not. Based on what I have heard so far, it is not any better than X-Men In Name Only.

I know what you mean about doing things for yourself...after years in vocational rehab with virtually nothing happening, I am on my own to do research. Maybe I'll end up a fantastic success and they'll say they knew me when...:P

Yes, and then you can tell the press about how you repeatedly went to them for assistance only to get a lot of stonewalling. *nods* Although, truth be told, if we stood up and insisted that the rich and corporations paid their fair share of the tax bill, we could afford to fund collective organisations specifically for the autistic and other invisibles.

That is one thing that continually boggles my mind, the waste of money by those who are fortunate enough to have it! If I were a megarich celebrity, instead of setting up foundations with my name on them (the funniest name I've heard is "The Oprah Winfrey Charitable Givings," lest we all miss the point :P), I would quietly donate to established, respectable charities. I don't know how so-called humanitarians can justify owning multiple, multimillion-dollar estates all over the world and spending thousands a night on hotel suites and such. Yeah, it is their money, but IMO if they are setting themselves up as examples for the world to follow, they owe the world a great deal more that just their "spare" money.

Actually, if I were rich enough, I would be volunteering to help my government work on redistributing a fraction of the wealth of the rich to the poor, and the social services that everyone needs. Taxation and redistribution to the poor is infinitely more effective at solving the problems that Western societies have than charity. In fact, there is a very serious mismatch between donations to charity and the needs of the people who depend on charities. The rich only tend to donate to rich charities, charities spend 90% of what they get on "administrative" costs, et cetera ad nauseum.

Another big problem with people like Oprah Winfrey et al is that while they protest otherwise, it is not just "their" money. They could not have made a dime of it without a lot of government supports that they frequently avoid paying for and leave us and our second jobs to pay for in their place.

It seems like you are working on getting the hang of things in the university world. I hope you pass! I feel suspenseful wanting to find that out, too. I hate how they make you wait.

As I have said before, at least if you don't pass, you know that you at least tried to the best of your abilities!

*shakes head* From the day I turned up for orientation, I basically felt excluded. I feel excluded from all conversations, all interactions, everything. And it keeps me up at nights, now. Why I keep having to repeat this, I am starting to really get tired of asking. I have practically yelled it at family.

If I do not pass this particular subject, I have to do it again. If they ask me to do it again, I will kill people.
