evil from here and there

I thought I'd just disquiet everyone who still reads this, so take a look:
A traditional Catholic defending the Inquisition. Nope, it's not parody. This is a guy who looks at people like you and me, and fantasizes that we're on fire. He's Canadian. I don't know what it is about Canadians, but when they go insane, they do it in really weird ( Read more... )

humanity as a general grouping has probably poor statistical odds of not doing really really dumb shit all the time. Everybody i know is occasionally profoundly stupid, and they're by and large smart, nice people. So if this's the cream of the crop, we have to assume most people make far more damaging mistakes. Now multiply this number of dumb people by 10 billion, and odds are good really insanely mean, insensitive things will happen all the time. Let it continue long enough and we'll get gwb in office. So I'm generically relieved and made disproportionately hopeful when i see the occasional act of humanity.

That was nice way back when dzm6 September 7 2005, 00:58:23 UTC
I recall having faith in humanity at some point or another. It was a nice feeling. Then somebody fucked up and reminded me that humanity is, at is core, fundamentally fucked.

I take succor from the fact that so many people do such heroic and selfless things in times of crisis. And I become even more bitter and cynical when a few other people then fuck it up for everybody. I mean really - how did the world get to the point that immediately after a major disaster the media and gub'ment have to tell people to be wary of rip-off schemes and con-men?

David Sim is sad.

He's a guy that used to create amazing comics. Now he's just a lunatic.

I bought the last issue of Cerebus just because it was the last one-but half the comic was his religious bullshit.

I dont know much about Cerebus-I've only read the second graphic novel collection-it seemed pretty good, it didnt have any of that crazy religious shit in it.But apparently he turns into a fucking maniac later on.(Sim, I mean.)

He does. He's openly misogynistic and he invented his own religion.
