George W. Bush has pardoned Jose Compean and Ignacio Ramos.

Looks like his presidency ends on a positive note.

They're border agents who shot an illegal alien/drug runner who entered the border with 743 pounds of marijuana. The drug runner ran for it, and took a single bullet in the butt. Ramos and Compean thought that they missed, so they engaged in some cover-up... the motives behind this I do not know, my theory is that they didn't want to go through the hubbub that comes with such an incident, since they thought they missed and all ( ... )

Amen to that. I think he did the right thing by letting them put but not fully pardoning them.

Now our long National Nightmare begins.

Me too. I looked into it and decided that if there was some cover-up, then losing their jobs and perhaps a small prison sentence was in order... however, I stand by my original opinion about the mandatory 10-year sentence for the gun shots. That's just crazy (given the circumstances) and is precisely what pardons/commutations are for.

As for our National Nightmare... I guess I need to get a gun to go with my religion. Or perhaps a gunblade... it's best not to do anything halfway in these troubled times. Plus, gunblades are awesome.
