New (final) crew - 3 guys swapped with the A boat. Rowed in #3, which is apparently my final position - cool! Some stability problems going all 8 - way down on bow-side at times, so some crab-catching fun. Managed to just about get that sorted with appropriate footplate pressure by the end of the outing. Did some more tapping, and a bit of starting from frontstops.
Finally got our novice cox for the races! Yay! Still #3 - should be permanent now. Set off late this morning, so only got as far as the Pike & Eel before spinning. Apparently everyone wanted to impress our new lady cox. Stroke side decided to put more pressure on, so we nearly hit a houseboat on the way out - ended up about two feet away, chatting to the owner through a window. We spent most of the way back doing race speed, at least between traffic stops. #2 rightly noted that the rate (>30spm) was "way too fast" - "you're *stroke* telling *stroke* me!". Only ended up spending about half an hour on the river - set off well after 0730 and had cleaned and put away the boat by 0820 - but still covered two miles or so.
Shame it was raining.
Another outing on Saturday afternoon, then Emma Sprints on Sunday. Yay!
