Another person on my friends list did the privilege meme, and noted some of her objections to it. I admit, I have some as well...
18. Had a private tutor before you turned 18.
No, and I think this may have been a matter of pride for parents. Both me and my brother got into private schools without any tutoring for the exam.
For my brother, it's because he's ridiculously smart. For me, it's because I did very well on the maths paper, and almost flunked the English paper, so they had me do some more work in the interview to check I could actually be coherent in English... :)
19. Family vacations involved staying at hotels. 31. Went on a cruise with your family. 32. Went on more than one cruise with your family.Actually, when I was younger, family holidays were "rent a self-catering place somewhere nice in Europe, stay there for a while". Hotels only came in when parents got too old to have the energy for self-catering all the time
( ... )
I think the "lessons" one is for those sorts of thing, yes. Possibly also a private tutor for school-type subjects would count, but that's a separate question as well.
Family holidays for us tended to be a caravan, which I'm guessing is the opposite of a hotel as far as the question is concerned.
