Left-wing 'thought'

This provides a nice microcosm of left-wing 'thought'.

The world is divided into Victims and OppressorsOver-simplistic Manichean viewpoint, of course. Meant lots of doublethink, particularly in the '80s when it wasn't clear whether Isreal or Muslims were getting the worse deal - now we all know that the "Zionists" are Oppressors and not Victims ( Read more... )

you have repeatedly strawmanned people in this post and tried to wind people up with ridiculous statements

(I admit that I laughed when I saw that. Then remembered the endless, endless arguments that result whenever you and Torne disagree on #cucas-old. Then laughed again. :P)

Apologies, it's been a while since I've posted and apparently my default screening settings hid most replies. Fixed it now, I think.

Guido Fawkes (the political blogger) has also picked up on this, agreeing with our view:

Indeed.

Guido is a good commentator and usually seems to have his finger on the pulse of what the masses are feeling - such as "The toytown revolutionaries don’t seem to grasp that tearing flags off the Cenotaph, pissing on Churchill’s statue and wrecking London won’t help their cause" in his latest post. Bang on.

Amusing that the pingback_bot should choose that line to quote.

It would be wrong to nit-pick on the difference between 'libel' and 'slander', especially as providing a link and then not discussing it or its author is pretty much as far away from libel as you can get while still having an opinion.

Of course, irony fans might wish to compare the paean to Freedom of Speech (as linked above) with the implied legal threat (as quoted) to stop it... Me, I'm going to the pub to get a beer in!
