questioning your beliefs?

I am pro choice, always have been, but you know what, I was never sure why. As I watch the Congress question judge alito I started to ask myself why I believe what I believe. I think I have always believed in pro choice because it was convienient for me because I hate kids but there is something deeper to this then just the surface I don't want kid ( Read more... )

I am definitely with Mikey's brother on this one. I have worked in social services and have met many of these young girls who get state sanctioned and funded abortions. Many of them are under 18 and have had multiple abortions, but definitely not most of them. I met one 17 year old that had four "terminations" which is what we had to call them, on her record. I know it sounds calous, but from a government fiscal standpoint an abortion costs the state a fraction of what it would cost to raise that child with any number of social aid programs. I mean these women are at the social service office because they can't afford healthcare, which means they don't have enough money to raise a child. This also means that if the mother decides to have the child, the state would be picking up the bill for all of their medical expenses while pregnant, and even then after they have the child the expenses get even greater. Childcare, healthcare, foodstamps these are all things that everyone pays for and is covered by various government bodies. I agree ( ... )
