Youtube refuses to co-operate but photobucket is being helpful, so here are John's three songs from ALW birthday at Hyde Park on 14 Sept 08. They are not perfect as the camera filming for the screens was completely in the wrong place but better than nothing. (ETA: they should now be on youtube too

Ruthie got loads of praise as far as I cna see but I wasn't overwhelmed by her in this, but its not exactly my favourite song either. I haven't relistened to her other song but I think she was better. I suspect they don't get much rehersal time for these things.

I don't mind her either way, and I'm not crazy about her either (don't know much about her; all I've heard about her has been in connection to JB, to be honest), but I know the song and I know what it's supposed to sound like, and it was... off. At least her parts weren't what they were supposed to be. JB was mostly on key. She... wasn't.

But yeah, good point about rehearsal time. Maybe they should have budgeted more for this one. *snark*

I believe it only got on because the proms set up was there from the weekend. It was supposed to happen in March/April but all went horribly wrong (internal politics etc) so I guess I feel a bit lucky it got put on at all really!
