wow I am so disappointed of RIng*Con right now because it seems that this years ringcon will be so messed up that I don't want to go anymore, really. First the cancellation of Craig Parker, ok, he's filming, good for him and i can understand his decision

Yep, mir geht es genauso - und allen anderen mit denen ich schon darüber gesprochen habe! Ich liebe die PotC-Filme, aber die haben nichts auf der Ring*Con zu suchen. Dann schon eher Narnia und Potter - wenn schon andere Filme mit rein sollen. Wir hatten ja jedes Jahr was zu meckern, aber dieses Jahr schießen sie den Vogel ab *auchsupersauerbin*
Ich sehe das schon nur als ein Freundestreffen an - und das hätte man anders viel billiger haben können. Ich werde mich jedenfalls nícht wieder anmelden!

That does sound very strange. I can understand not being able to get additional LotR people involved, if there were problems making the budget due to ticket sales. But to then turn round and say that the money's gone towards people outside the franchise seems a little bizarre. Perhaps they're thinking that a bigger name is more important than the direct association. I know that some of the big US names on the convention circuit have exclusive agreements with some of the bigger cons - if something like that has happened to LotR fandom, then any independent con is just going to be stuck, full-stop. Seems unlikely, though: like you said, there's a *lot* of names to get through

YEah..I think the future will be that Ring*Con is going to be a general con like Comic Con or something like that. I mean it would be incredibly sad to loose that spirit and atmosphere but it seems it cannot be helped..
