I've never read the book actually. *L* And I'm not sure when I'll get a chance to. What are the differences between Durse in the book and druse in the show? I'm extremely curious. :)
I agree with theladyfeylene in the fact that what interested me the most about Mrs. Druse was that "she is a psychic, believes fully in spirits and the otherworld and communication with the dead, but is also a practicing Christian". When I first started watching the series, I was, quite frankly, shocked at the character. Being raised in a strictly religious community, someone with Mrs. Druse's diverse beliefs was, to me, unheard of. To believe in otherwordly beings like spirits of the dead and to still be a Christian was not possible... it was blasphemy.
On a personal note, I fell into that catagory. I believed in spirits... I still do... and I am a Christian. I think that it is for this reason that Mrs. Druse became to me somewhat of a role model. She is firm in her beliefs no matter what, but is also not blind to the fact that spirits exist. I respect her character a lot because of that.
