The trailer for Sofia Coppola's third film is umm...interesting? It certainly looks beautiful and Kirsten Dunst has that whole running in a weird 18th century way down pat. Remember A Knight's Tale? When a crowd watching MIDIEVAL JOUSTING started singing 'We Will Rock You'? Or when, at a MIDIEVAL FEAST, the crowd danced to a song by David Bowie?

I was actually waiting for this to come back. And I can't knock anything with Jason Schwartzman in it because I love him. My love for him, in fact, might cancel out my hate for Kirsten Dunst.

I haven't seen A Knight's Tale, but I assume it was a teen flick and at least partial comedy. In that situation, I suppose a little anachronism could induce laughs, but I was sort of hoping Marie-Antoinette would be higher than that.

I think the trailer is not representative of the actual film, but it's working though...since we're both intrigued.

I'm feeling a hearty dose of WTF after watching that trailer. Is it supposed to be a serious story about Marie Antoinette or some other goofy premise?

Yea, see, I don't know. But it looks very well shot and Sofia Coppola is a respected director, so I'm thinking its going to be an artsy take on Marie-Antoinette and that the '80s music is just for the trailer. I'm pretty intrigued, though.
