If you didn't pick up GTA IV for the PS3 get it for 360. Dead Rising is a good exclusive, Halo 3 is good, Madden/NCAA 08 ran a lot smoother (60 FPS) on the 360 (not sure if that's going to change on 09), Ninja Gaiden II is supposed to be pretty sweet (haven't got it yet), Mass Effect (if you didn't get it for the PC) is definitely worth a buy, and BioShock is beyond incredible (again, assumiing you didn't get it for PC).
I'd recommend getting the Pro or the Elite (both come with component cables, not sure if the HDMI cable comes with) for the system itself. Get one of the rechargeable packs for the controller too so you don't spend a load on batteries. Depending on what you're considering playing I'd think about getting a gold subscription on live. Kao/Espio/I are on it among others *shrug*
Yeah, I wasn't going to bother with GTA4 for the PS3 since I'm getting it on the 360. I've already been told I'm getting Halo 3 to play online with some other friends. I figured I'd get Madden 09 for it when it comes out. I'm not sure about any other games yet really, I was going to see what my friend recommended for online playing. I'm going to get an X-box live subsricption for sure, just wasn't sure what kind yet.
Madden is looking like it *should* be pretty good. 07 was complete garbage, 08 was a massive jump, so hopefully 09 takes the same steps. I'm sure you already have it for PS3, but NHL 08 is supposedly the best NHL game since 94. Gears of War is supposed to be pretty sweet, I personally haven't played it though *shrug*
Gold and Silver are the only two XBL subscriptions there are. Silver is free, but you can't play against people. You can still download DLC and stuff if you add MS points, but no online gaming plus some demos/gamer pics/themes you can't get until the game has been out a while.
