CHARACTER
Name: Domon Kasshu
Age: 21
Canon: Mobile Fighter G Gundam
Canon Point: Shortly after the Colony Devil Gundam is defeated, giving Domon just enough time to safely return to Earth with Rain.
History:
the A.D. Calendar, Earth's population passed 10 billion, causing the environment to decay rapidly. Each of Earth's nations created its own space colony to orbit the Earth. Then began the F.C. Calendar, standing for "Future Century". In F.C. 1 the migration from Earth began, with the upper classes and ruling classes leaving the planet for the colonies. 40% of the population either couldn't or wouldn't abandon Earth, and stayed behind. The very next year, many countries began regional wars on Earth, threatening full-scale nuclear war. To combat this threat, the colonies created the United Colonies Federation, and forcibly seized control of Earth with their many mobile suits (stereotypical humanoid mecha). From then on, Earth was to be subject to the space colonies.
After the Earth Chaos War, the colonies began vying for the ruling position in the UCF. With a war between the colonies now threatening the safety of humans, a military advisor by the name of E.C. Ducer proposed the idea of a Gundam Fight in F.C. 6 - every four years, a tournament would be held and each colony would submit one fighter in one Gundam. The Gundams would go to Earth and fight until one was ultimately determined the winner; that Gundam's colony nation would then earn the right to rule all of Earth and Space for four years, until the next tournament. The Gundam Fight was adopted and GF 1 was held in F.C. 8.
Domon was born on July 24th, F.C. 39 to a fairly normal family on the Neo Japan space colony. He had one brother, Kyoji Kasshu, who was eight years older than him. His father, Dr. Raizo Kasshu, was a brilliant scientist who specialized in developing Gundams. He also spent a lot of time with his best friend and neighbor, Rain Mikamura.
Shortly before Domon turned ten, a mysterious old man appeared at the colony. His name was Master Asia, the Undefeated of the East, and he was known to be the strongest martial artist in the world. He was also the King of Hearts, the leader of a secret five-person organization known as the Shuffle Alliance, whose sole purpose was to protect the Earth and monitor warfare, and had several times steered mankind away from extinction. Master explained to Domon that each member of the Shuffle Alliance had a symbol called a crest, which although normally invisible sometimes manifested itself as a glowing symbol on the right hand of the fighter who held the crest. He also explained that Domon was destined to become the next King of Hearts once Master passed away. Because Domon had received no formal martial arts training, Master asked for permission to take Domon to Earth for training.
Domon then left with Master Asia for Earth, specifically a wild and uninhabited region of South America known as the Guyana Highlands. In the year F.C. 56 Master Asia represented Neo Hong Kong in the 12th Gundam Fight; there is no canon explanation of what Domon was doing at this time. After ten years of training, Master passed his crest on to Domon, and then simply disappeared.
Domon then proudly returned to the Neo Japan space colony as the new King of Hearts, only to find that his family had been ripped apart. His once kind-hearted brother Kyoji had gone insane, and tricked Dr. Kasshu into helping him build the monstrous Devil Gundam, which potentially had the raw power to overthrow the United Colonies Federation. When the Japanese military attempted to confiscate the Devil Gundam Mrs. Kasshu was killed in the crossfire. Kyoji fled to Earth with the Devil Gundam, and Dr. Kasshu was sentenced to an indefinite cryogenic state. Domon was then forced become the pilot of Neo Japan’s Shining Gundam in the thirteenth Gundam Fight so that he could move about the Earth freely and track down his renegade brother. To accomplish this task his was partnered with his childhood friend Rain, who had in the last ten years become a brilliant doctor and mechanic.
Domon travelled around the world, attempting to find his brother by showing everyone he came across a twelve-year-old photograph of Kyoji. He first traveled to Neo Italy and defeated their Fighter in one blow. He then fought with Neo America’s Chibodee Crocket, Neo China’s Sai Saici, Neo France’s George de Sand, and Neo Russia’s Argo Gulskii; however he sensed that they were good people, and chose not to defeat them.
Due to his “poor record,” Commissioner Karato, Dr. Mikamura (who was Rain’s father), and Major Ulube Ishikawa, the heads of the Japanese government, broke Gundam Fight International Regulations by bringing Domon back to the colony during the Gundam Fight. Domon was given hallucinogenic drugs and forced to “live” through Kyoji’s betrayal first hand. Not convinced that Domon would be able attack Kyoji, Karato forced him to “fight” his brother. However, Rain became hurt in the crossfire when she attempted to help him, and Domon realized he was being tricked. This caused his anger to peak, and activate the Shining Gundam’s Super Mode for the first time.
They returned to Earth, and continued the search for the Devil Gundam. As they did, they once again met Domon’s four rivals - Chibodee, Sai, George, and Argo - and defeated many other Gundam Fighters. As the Fight continued, they began to encounter several Fighters that had been infected with Devil Gundam Cells, a type of bio-metal capable of bonding with both Gundarium and human cells, and gave the Devil Gundam its three great theoretical abilities of self-recovery, self-evolution, and self-multiplication.
Then they received notification of a distress signal originating from Shinjuku. When they reached Shinjuku they realized the city was being systematically attacked by a mysterious Mobile Suit army called the Death Army, which they soon realized was connected to the Devil Gundam because each suit was “piloted” by a corpse that had been reanimated with DG Cells. It was then that Master Asia reappeared, once again representing Neo Hong Kong. Together he and Domon were able to drive off a full-scale assault the Death Army attempted to make on the surviving citizens. However, Domon’s four rivals reappeared, infected with DG Cells. Master then revealed that he was willingly siding with the Devil Gundam, and attempted to trick Domon into joining him. However, Rain stopped Domon from being brainwashed, and then the other four members of the Shuffle Alliance appeared. The Shuffles began to fight Domon’s four rivals, but soon realized that they were actually the heirs to the Shuffle Alliance, and sacrificed themselves to heal the new Shuffle Alliance and remove the DG Cells. When Master laughed at how they “threw their lives away,” Domon once again was able to activate his Super Mode, which was powerful enough to force Master to make a tactical retreat.
It was shortly after this that the Devil Gundam itself appeared from underground, in a cocoon-like state because it was in the middle of self-evolving. Master reappeared and easily defeated each member of the New Shuffle Alliance to buy the Devil Gundam time. It was then that the masked German ninja Schwarz Bruder literally appeared out of nowhere. He was able to fight at Master’s level, allowing Domon to get past and attack the Devil Gundam. His rage at Kyoji led him to once again activate the Super Mode, however, he wasn’t able to attack his own brother, and attacked the Devil Gundam’s body instead of the head. The Devil Gundam then absorbed all of the Shining Gundam’s energy, jump-starting its evolution. Kyoji then used the newly-resurrected Devil Gundam to attempt to kill Domon, although Schwarz was able to save him. The Devil Gundam then disappeared, along with Master Asia. Angry and heartbroken, Domon attempted to chase after Kyoji, but was stopped by Schwarz. Schwarz pointed out to him that he couldn’t even activate the Super Mode at will, and so had no hope of defeating the Devil Gundam. When Domon refused to listen, Schwarz thoroughly defeated him before giving him a rusted katana, telling him that when he could cut down a tree with it, he would be able to master the Super Mode.
Domon finally decided to take Schwarz’s advice when he was trounced by the German ninja for a second time. Domon decided to return to the Guyana Highland for high-intensity training so that he would be able to use the Super Mode at will. However, even after once again defeating his four rivals who had followed him there, he still couldn’t figure out the key to activating the Super Mode.
When there were only three days remaining until all the Fighters needed to gather in Neo Hong Kong for the Final Battle, Schwarz attacked Domon with his Gundam, telling Domon to “have peace in your heart as you perish.” As Domon let go of his anger and hatred the sword began to glow, and was able to block the Gundam Spiegel. Schwarz then explained to him that Meikyo Shisui, a serene state of mind, was what was needed to activate the Super Mode. However, before they could finish the lesson, they were attacked by the Death Army. The other Shuffles were eventually able to regroup with Domon and Schwarz, but were then attacked by Master Asia. They retreated back to the Neo Russian base camp, where they set up a defensive parameter while the Shining Gundam was being repaired. Schwarz however left the battle to set up an escape route. When Shining Gundam was finally ready, Master moved in with the Death Army’s main force. It was then that Schwarz made his move, breaking a large natural dam and creating a flood. The tidal wave caused by that destroyed most of the remaining Death Army troops, while simultaneously creating a strong current that the Gundams used to carry themselves out of the Guyana Highlands past the reach of the Devil Gundam Heads.
After all of his friends left, Domon decided to stay behind and attempt to fight Master on his own. It was then that the Devil Gundam itself showed up. Master then tried to provoke Domon into activating the Super Mode with his anger. Thankfully Schwarz also stayed behind, and was able to use his ninjutsu get Domon to a safe location, and tried once again to teach Domon the importance of Meikyo Shisui. However, because Domon was being particularly thickheaded, Schwarz seemingly abandoned him.
Domon still hadn’t learned anything, and once again attempted a frontal assault against Master. Kyoji was used as bait, and began to laugh maniacally at Domon, causing him to become fully possessed by his anger. Master used this opportunity to attack Domon, however Schwarz reappeared and took the blow for Domon, saving Domon’s life but becoming severely injured in the process. It was then that Domon finally allowed his mind to clear, and was able to attain the true Super Mode and destroy the Devil Gundam. However, Master Asia was still attacking him, and the Shining Gundam quickly ran out of power. Thankfully, the Neo Japanese government was aware of the situation, and sent the God Gundam to the Guyana Highlands instead of to Neo Hong Kong. Domon was able to reach it at the cost of the Shining Gundam being completely destroyed, and Rain was able to help him transfer the Shining Gundam’s battle data over to the God Gundam. Domon was then able to defeat Master Asia and make it to Neo Hong Kong with only seconds to spare.
Schwarz Bruder also somehow survived to make it to Neo Hong Kong, as well as Master Asia. Seeing that Master was still alive, Domon declared that he would win every single one of his preliminary matches just so he would have a chance to fight Master in the Battle Royale. Finding that the fancy hotel he was supposed to be staying at "wasn't his style", Domon and Rain wound up staying on a junk boat with an old man and his two grandchildren after they helped Domon when he was almost killed by Neo Greece's fighter. Over the course of the finals Domon also became friends with Allenby Beardsly, the Gundam Fighter for Neo Sweden. About halfway through the Finals, a Devil Gundam Head appeared, revealing that the Devil Gundam had somehow survived, made it to Neo Hong Kong, and was self recovering. Although the other members of the Shuffle Alliance at first were too concerned with their own individual reasons for fighting to worry about the Devil Gundam, Domon slowly brought the Shuffle Alliance back together as he fought and defeated them one by one.
Towards the end of the finals, Allenby is kidnapped. Angry and confused, Domon blames Rain, causing her to leave him. Also at this time Prime Minister Wong Yunfat announces that not only will Domon’s final match be against Schwarz Bruder, it will be a time-limit death match using an electric net and over 50,000 time bombs would be detonated should a clear winner fail to be determined. Master then lures Domon away from the city, but rather than trying to hurt him he teaches Domon the one technique Master had never taught him: the School of the Undefeated of the East’s ultimate secret technique, Sekiha Tenkyouken.
When it was time for his battle with Schwarz, Domon realized that Rain had joined the Neo German team. During the fight, Schwarz taught Domon that it’s okay for him to rely on other people, and he and Rain were able to make up. Domon used the Bakunetsu Sekiha Tenkyouken to overcome Schwarz’s Sturm Und Drang, but the time bombs went off before a clear winner was determined. Domon managed to escape the explosion, but Schwarz wasn’t so lucky. When the medical team pulled Schwarz’s mask off, Domon realized that Schwarz was actually his older brother Kyoji.
The next day was the day of the Gundam Fight Finals Battle Royale on Lantau Island to determine who would have the rights to rule the universe for the next four years. Domon managed to defeat several opponents, but then the Devil Gundam itself appeared on the island. The other four members of the Shuffle Alliance allowed themselves to be knocked out of the tournament to defeat the Devil Gundam’s servants, which allowed Domon to advance. He encountered Allenby, now controlled by both DG Cells and a Berserker System, but Neo Japan’s back-up Gundam, the Rising Gundam, appeared out of nowhere and got Allenby out of the way, and Domon didn't see either of them again for the rest of the Finals.
Master began attacking Domon, but Schwarz appeared then and began to fight with Master, telling Domon to destroy the Devil Gundam. However, when Domon approached the Devil Gundam its cockpit opened to reveal that there was another Kyoji still trapped inside it. As the Devil Gundam began to attack, Schwarz and Domon retreated to a relatively safe place. Schwarz then revealed the truth behind the Devil Gundam Incident: it was originally called the Ultimate Gundam, and its three great theoretical abilities were intended to help restore the dying Earth. However, Dr. Mikamura became so jealous of Dr. Kasshu that he informed Ulube of the Kasshu’s secret project, and Ulube attempted to confiscate it for the military. Kyoji had no choice but to leave his family and flee to Earth. However, the impact with the planet caused the main computer to malfunction, and it then warped itself into the Devil Gundam. Schwarz then went on to explain that he was Kyoji’s mirror image, and that Kyoji had used the last of his strength to transfer every aspect of his personality into an android body made of DG Cells. Schwarz then sacrificed his Gundam Spiegel to reach the Devil Gundam’s cockpit, and begged Domon to kill him and destroy the Devil Gundam at the same time. Domon at first refused, but at Schwarz’s urging sorrowfully used a Bakunetsu Sekiha Tenkyouken to destroy the Devil Gundam and end his brother’s suffering.
Domon had no time to mourn, however, because he then immediately had to fight with Master Asia. Master revealed that the will of the Devil Gundam was to destroy humanity itself. It had determined that humanity, and especially the Gundam Fight, was the reason the planet was dying and without humans the Earth would restore itself. Master willingly joined with the Devil Gundam because of his guilt at having contributed to the damage during the twelfth Gundam Fight. However Domon pointed out to Master that humans were created as a part of nature and were therefore part of the Earth. In the end, Domon managed to defeat Master and become the winner of the thirteenth Gundam Fight as well as make amends with Master. However, Master Asia did not survive the wounds he had received during the battle.
When Domon returned from the island the first thing he did was look for Rain. He found Allenby instead, who told him that Rain had been the pilot of Rising Gundam, and that overcome by the guilt of what her father had done she had left for the Colony without him, begging him not to come after her. Having lost his brother, master, and the love of his life all at once Domon had a severe emotional breakdown and essentially ran on autopilot for several hours, refusing to go after her because that was her last request of him. However, Ulube then used Rain as the Core Life Unit of the Devil Gundam to resurrect it once again, and Domon and the rest of the Shuffle Alliance rushed into space to stop Ulube and save Rain. It at first seemed hopeless because the Devil Gundam had already become so powerful that it had absorbed the entirety of the Neo Japan Space Colony, but all other Gundam Fighters from all other nations, including Allenby, came to join in the fight, forming the World Gundam Federation. Then Dr. Mikamura sacrificed himself to make amends and released Dr. Kasshu from his cryogenic state, allowing the Shuffle Alliance to get inside of the Colony Devil Gundam.
They fought through the monster until they reached its “heart,” the colonies power generator. Here they fought a completely DG Cell possessed Ulube, killing him with their combined attack. The generator began to self recover, but Domon left his friends to deal with it while he went on alone to save Rain. He reached the Devil Gundam’s core, only to find that it had evolved into its final form, a Gundam within a Gundam. However, Rain was trapped within this core Devil Gundam, and Domon was unable to attack it because it had become Rain herself, so hurting it meant hurting Rain. He was about to give up, when Allenby urged him to tell Rain how he really felt about her. Domon then made a five minute “I love you” speech, at the end of which Rain found the strength within herself to break free. Together, they used the Sekiha Love-Love Tenkyouken to finally destroy the Devil Gundam for good.
Personality:
Domon is extremely impulsive. He almost never thinks things through, instead charging in and acting based entirely on his emotions. Because of this he is extremely impatient. He also has an extreme stubborn streak, to the point that he can become extremely obsessed with his current goal or mission, choosing to work himself into exhaustion rather then lose the time that might make the potential difference.
The first thing most people notice about him is his stern outer shell. However, underneath this shell is a really nasty temper. It is almost ridiculously easy to set him off, and it's usually the people he cares about the most that get the brunt of it. He has recently been making a genuine effort to get his temper under control, but he still tends to snap. However, he has finally learned to open up more to the people he trusts, although it can be rather difficult to earn his trust in the first place. If he is around someone who happens to be very close to him, however, the passing stranger would see someone very different. For example, around Rain they would see a shy but very loving man, and around Kyoji they would see a happy and somewhat hyperactive little brother.
Despite his anger issues, his heart is in the right place. He has a strong sense of justice and is unwaveringly honorable in battle, and will usually even go so far as to put aside his all-important mission if the weak and powerless require help. This is especially true if the ones requiring his help or protection are children, and he is remarkably good with children.
Domon doesn't show his softer side often, and then only to the people closest to him, but when he does he is kind, generous, protective, and loyal. He can also be obedient almost to fault, making it extremely easy for someone with the patience and skill to manipulate him, although it is extremely hard to get that close to him in the first place if you're not genuinely trustworthy.
The only exceptions to this rule are children, who always manage to bring out his soft side. Always. He has a very fatherly aspect to his personality, being somewhat strict with them but also very kind. He's also quite patient with them, despite having almost no patience with anyone or anything else.
However, it is extremely difficult for him to talk to other adults, because as a fighter he only truly knows how to communicate with his fists. He is able to express his feelings very well to other fighters through battle, but it is extremely difficult for him to communicate with words, so he has trouble expressing his feelings to people that do not have a fighting spirit, even if he cares about them deeply. In fact Domon is actually extremely shy, and sometimes when his temper flares it's actually a subconscious self-defense tactic to keep people from getting too close to him.
Abilities/Strengths:
Domon is a natural at martial arts, and through intense training (see character history) has become a master of the Touhou Fuhai fighting style. The school of Toho Fuhai is unique in that it is capable of incorporating elements from other fighting styles, so a skilled student is able to adapt it to suit their own unique style and personality. This style also allows those that master it to “communicate with their fists,” a way to express one’s emotions through fighting that borders on an empathic level. However, this only works to pick up the strongest of emotions, although Domon can usually tell if a person is trustworthy or not by fighting with them. This also works both ways, so someone fighting with him will sometimes have a better understanding of his feelings afterwards.
By combining his fighting techniques with a special kind of meditation called Meikyo Shisui (clear mirror, still water), Domon is able to use the energy within himself as a weapon; allowing him to create and launch an energy sphere known as the Sekiha Tenkyouken, as well as infuse his rusted katana with energy. The energized blade glows with a bright, white light and is sharper and stronger than any normal katana. Unfortunately, if Domon gets angry or distracted for even a moment he loses his Meikyo Shisui and the blade returns to normal. He can also catch bullets from multiple guns at once, although he has to be both a relatively far distance from the shooters and be fully on his guard to do this; a surprise or close-range shot from even a single gun will probably hit him.
As a werewolf he will gain improved senses as well as improved physical speed and strength. The increase to these will be proportional to how much he is physically a wolf-man at the time. It should also be noted that he will not be allergic to silver, but rather he will be vulnerable to any type of weapon.
Weaknesses:
Domon has a lot of trouble staying focused if he doesn’t have friends or family to support him. It is their support that gives him the determination to keep fighting towards his goals no matter what happens. Similarly, he is not nearly as strong when he’s fighting for himself. He is capable of truly amazing things when he’s for to protect his loved ones, but seems to be much weaker when he is fighting for himself.
He finds his Meikyo Shisui by thinking of Rain. If for some reason thinking of her would not give him peace (such being trapped on the Island where he cannot see her) he would not be able to find his Meikyo Shisui at will. Instead, only certain major events would trigger in, like before he had mastered it in the Guyana Highlands. These events would be major things like life-or-death situations or protecting loved ones.
Another issue is that he is cocky and tends to get overconfident. This causes him to let his guard down sometimes, and if one can hit him hard and fast enough it is far easier to defeat him.
ARCANARUM
Story:Mixed folklore
There are many werewolf stories, but none that are very well known and almost all of them are different versions of one of two stories. There is the purposeful transformation acquired through witchcraft/demonic forces, often ending in “werewolf witch trials;” one of the most well known trials being the
Werewolf of Bedburg. The only real difference between lycanthropy and witchcraft in this type of story is the occasional involuntary werewolf that was changed through a curse. Other stories, including some of the oldest, have murderers and cannibals transformed into wolves as divine punishment. The
story of Lycaon is a good example.
