[call for Batman; also Kryptonian, okay.] isitablurred May 15 2011, 17:50:22 UTC
[Straight to the point.]

What do you know about the Brain Interactive Construct?

[ Pause. Then- ]

In your world, he looks like the man 'Spike' who had just arrived. You want to be sure if it is him.

Tell me the reasons why you suspect.

His name was Milton Fine. He pretended to be Kryptonian, and he had powers just like mine and worse. His face, his voice - even without the British accent - they're exactly the same. I'm not talking about a passing resemblance.

I sent him into the future with the Legion, but there's no reason it couldn't be him--some version of him. He might not even know it yet. [Pause.] People keep telling me that they've more enemies brought here than friends. My enemies are just...different.

I don't want you to investigate.

Then what are you calling me for?

I'm calling you because I was hoping you'd recognise him too. You recognised me.

The Brainiac of my world doesn't look anything nearly as human. Nor would it wish to.

[Great.]

Fantastic. There goes my second opinion.

If I'm going to be actually useful, let me investigate. I can have the answer for you by three, four days.

Brainiac is dangerous. If it is him, and he catches on to you, he can drain everything you know straight out of your head, like it's a computer, and at the same time have you carrying on like some zombie doing his bidding.

I don't have Jor-El's help here, and there's no Legion. If that happened to you, there'd be no way to undo the damage.

You're underestimating me again. [ Pause, and when he speaks again, there's an odd sort of smirk in his voice. ]

Besides, if he does- I would be surprise if his system doesn't immediately self-destruct.

No, I think I'm estimating you just about right. [Might be a dig at a twisted ankle, okay.] We're talking about a Kryptonian supercomputer, not Deep Blue.

[ DIAF. ]

Which I have fought before, in my world.

Seriously? What happened?

You have to specify an occasion. [ He sounds wry. ] And he's not the only supercomputer I've gone up against.

Oh...

In that case, I guess I'm sorry. It sounds like you know more about him than I could. I've only met him a handful of times, and each time he tried to destroy the world. One time he actually succeeded.

[ Pause. ] When did you meet him?

And if he succeeded, how is your world still surviving?
